Re: Graphite membrane trace fix

Graphite works okay. I’ve had better luck using silver conductive paste to do membrane repair. It comes in a tiny syringe but it’s not terribly expensive. For membrane substrate repair e.g. torn membrane, archival quality packing tape does a pretty good job. Glad you got it fixed!

Bump! I've still got seven six gorgeous F122s to rehome. Two are even offered at a discount. I'll start listing these through other channels but wanted to make sure my Deskthority friends got first pick.

Re: Ultrasonic Key Cap Cleaning - 2021 Edition

But dehydrator does not make sense for people who clean their keyboards from time to time. It has saved me quite a lot of effort already. One may already be present in the kitchen. There was a time when these were a common $5 thrift store item. Trace amounts of water will evaporated from a keycap v...

Re: Ultrasonic Key Cap Cleaning - 2021 Edition

I just dump them from the cleaner on a piece of cloth and start putting them directly onto the keyboard blowing on the underside of each cap to get any bigger water droplets out. They will dry themselves by the time I will have seated them all on the keyboard. There is not enough water on a keycap ...

Re: Ultrasonic Key Cap Cleaning - 2021 Edition

Can you recommend a specific brand and model of ultrasonic cleaner and a food dehydrator? P.S. Does running the keycaps through the food dehydrator cause any change in the durability of the plastic? I'll post links a little later but they may be specific to the US. The dehydrator runs at about 60 C...

Ultrasonic Key Cap Cleaning - 2021 Edition

We get a fair number of keyboards - particularly IBM buckling spring boards of late - through XMIT Labs. As always, we're looking for the easiest and best ways of cleaning key caps. We've already talked about soap recently. See https://deskthority.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=25639. Today we're here to t...

Are we surprised that a Frenchman never makes mistakes and doesn’t need a Backspace key?

Beware the angry Scotsman, lest he come at you with his caber.

I personally never use Left Shift. On some space constrained keyboards I will remap it to something else.

Won't help with yellowing, of course. Sodium percarbonate is the active ingredient in "Oxi Clean" type products. It is sodium carbonate that releases a peroxide. I believe it is used somewhat commonly by home brewers to clean their equipment. You might experiment with adding small amounts of that, ...

Oh, have you tried uship.com? It's a service for getting directly in touch with LTL truckers.

You can also ask the seller to bring it to a shipping place and have them deal with it for you.

Just keep working the problem.

If I had reworked the foam on these, I would have posted photos, since a foam rework is about half a day of work and not to be taken lightly. I'd also be asking 800 USD if they had new foam, and I probably would have A...

Once the pandemic eases up I bet plenty of folks will be trading keebs for plane tickets.
