Re: Connecting a Model M to a Macintosh Computer

My main issue with this is that modern MacBooks, including mine, use USB C. It's irritating having to use two adaptors to make my keyboard work, but I can't find a single PS/2 to USB C adaptor out there, nor a USB C hub with a PS/2 port included. Any options someone else may be aware of? Or do I jus...

Re: [WTB] IBM Unsaver & M15 & Beamspring

I remember. Somehow, I was able to get a passionate and kind forum member to sell me his Unsaver for $150 because we both shared a love for modding. There is no way I would be able to get my dream board otherwise, and today I think it would be impossible unless I was OP offered thousands of dollars...

Re: [WTB] IBM Unsaver & M15 & Beamspring

Remember when five hundred bucks was considered too much to pay for an Unsaver? (this was at about the same time I got yelled at for spending 250 for an F122 in excellent shape, as well) That was back when the hobby was great, but was starting to get ridiculous. This hobby was taken over by greedy ...

Re: 16" MacBook Pro Keyboard

I tried it in a store too. In terms of just feel, not as good as the butterfly. And the keys wobble again, which is something the butterfly totally eliminated. It's not as big a wobble as the pre-2015 keyboards, but then you'd expect that as they're lower keys. Still, that's definitely a regression...

Re: 16" MacBook Pro Keyboard

The keys are supposedly the same keyboard as for their current desktops. The key travel and key size on that sucks. I wouldn't call it mushy though. I really thought it would be the same as the external Magic Keyboards, but those are indeed pretty clicky, not mushy. The laptop board was unexpectedl...

16" MacBook Pro Keyboard

Hello all, It's been a while since I've posted here. I wanted to get your opinion of the new 16" MacBook Pro's keyboard. I remember that thoughts on the Butterly keyboard were mixed, but a lot of you thought it was impressive for what was done with such little travel. The entire world seems to love ...

Also, assuming you are a heterosexual male, there will never be this many young women in one place at one time for the rest of your life. Or if you’re an asexual hermit, universities also have the best libraries in the world. Yay! :D Also, try not to knock yourself out academically right off the ba...

Does the Docking-port count as one or as several? (eg thinkpads can get usb/hdmi/whatnot with the appropriate docking station.) I'd count it as one. See, you can get amazing Thunderbolt 3 docks these days too. And unlike the proprietary Thinkpad docks, these things have the full 40 Gb/s bandwidth t...

The reference here is a machine that has even less ports than the X220, so, bare minimum is relative. The mac has USB3, TB, HDMI and SD card slot, so, again, what is bare minimum? Personally I found that TB accessories are very expensive, so USB3 is the best for my needs. Not to be rude, but you're...

Laptop with MOST ports?

So I've recently been using my new MacBook Pro for college, and though I'll likely make a separate post about my experience with that later, I have to say that it's a mind-blowing experience coming from Windows. Absolutely amazing. It just got me thinking though, that everyone's complaint with this ...

If you're serious about note taking then an iPad shouldn't even occur to you as an option. The external keyboards you can use with them are absolute trash unless you hook up some sort of external board through adapters but that'll defeat the point in having a portable tablet anyway. I'd go for the ...

My grandfather was a college prof, and my dad was a high school science teacher. Granddad pioneered a method called SQ3R--Survey, Question, Read, Write, and Review. snipet Given you don't need to write code or learn programming and that you don't need to write a lot of essays, it seems to me that you can survive with an iPad. Hey there! It's been a while since I've been active on here, but I somehow felt that this would be a good place to ask such a question, considering the amount of veteran computer users on this site. Laptops are extremely limited in so many ways, I'd personally never use one as my main machine. Not unless they become as modular as a deskto but if it works for you that's all that matters. It is not as if the "butterfly mechanism" keys of the MacBook and MacBook Pro are very prominent as physical keys. Say I decide to go triple 30in. In that case, I'd want my bezels to be as small as possible. I can't imagine how anyone here could possible know this, but I need to ask anyway: which one of the 30in (2560x1600) monitors have the smallest bezels? As in, which would be best for multi-screen setups?

After looking into it for a bit, I think that I'm going to go with the cheapest route of adding 2 1600x1200 displays to my current Dell 3007wfp.

Do you have any suggestions as to which 16x12 would be a good option?
