Really love this layout, but would miss having the arrows on the 'front' layer. It should have an option so that if you tap an arrow key it's an arrow (on upstroke) and if your chord it with another key its a mod. OK you lose the 'contextMenu' key but I don't care about that key. Also very keen to h...

Mine arrived this week too. I've only tried them on Matias switches so far, but they don't seem ridiculously tight. I don't think shaving the stems will be necessary. One thing I'll say is that it much more obvious with DSA profile how bad a job I did of bending my stab wires, compared to DCS. Some ...

How about something like this? messy_plate_even_smaller.png Please disregard the extra stabilizer holes, and one extra screw mount hole in the middle of the plate - there's a bug with the custom polygons feature of the builder, I can clean it up later. So does this kind of setup have any advantages ...

If you really want bluetooth/ble it would add quite a bit of time to your keyboard build if someone has not done the work for for the micro you use. using a well developed firmware and going straight usb would be the quickest road to success and support when things don't make sense. However if you ...

The idea is that it will let me use normal Alps caps, or those made by Signature Plastics, which have MX-st...

The nice thing about this is that it's forcing me to stop being lazy and get on with finishing the design for my custom - otherwise the cash sunk into keycaps would be wasted.

I'd still prefer Tai Hao's caps that dont break due to improper engineering. And if you're keen on DSA (eww), surely Alps compatible china clones with proper stems can't be that far off. Yeah, I was quite surprised to find out I liked DSA, at a meetup. I guess the cheap(ish) china DSA Alps clones d...

Well, SP would either have to redo all their ALPS molds or pay laborers to cut the corners off every single keycap. Frankly, I don't see them spending the $$$ to do either. In that case, I honestly don't see why they would sell a product that is obviously inferior to something like Tai-Hao (no mean...

I left a decent size margin for error with the dremeling out the single piece of wood for the top case. If it goes well I might shave down the sizes a bit.

Just realized it looks a lot like Ye Olde ZX Spectrum. LOL.

You would have to get your hands dirty whatever method you choose. There is no easy way. There seems to be a bit of info about it on Adafruit's web site. I would start there. Well there's "dirty" and then there's " dirty ". Configuring keymaps and whatnot doesn't sound scary at all, but writing ent...

I can't find the comment you are referring to, but I suspect that the problem is that under Arduino , some pins would be devoted to special purposes instead of being GPIO pins. The place where he says it only has 15 free pins is about 2/3 or the way down the linked article (on medium.com). Based on...

Question: can I use the Adafruit Feather 32u4 Bluefruit LE for this layout? I need 14 + 6 = 20 (or at least 9 + 9 = 18) pins for my matrix. The board looks like it has enough pins, and the product description says it has 20 GPIO pins, but this guy says it only has 15.

That is if it will fit on your desk with the addition of a laptop or books and stuff (Assuming that you are in uni or studying or doing some kind of work at home) I have plenty of vertical space on my desks at home and office. Tinkercad of my top case design. http://i.imgur.com/w4G09mo.png Any obvious problems so far? I'm thinking I'll use a flat clear acrylic sheet for the base, mount the plate onto that with standoffs, then slide the top case down over that, and screw it to the base at the four screw holes shown above.

Help me design my first ever custom keyboard!

Keycaps also are a solved problem. * Layout is "Nano75" The same as the eponymous Plum and Noppoo boards. http://i.imgur.com/KCtE4iO.png * Arr...

I prefer whites. I tried Chyros' KB101 at a meetup and was quite disappointed. It's rather boring and lacking in personality, and a bit too light. It was very loud in there tho, so I didn't get to compare the sound properly. Supposedly blues and whites are the same weight but the whites somehow fee...

I never noticed any sluggishness on any Matias switches, either stock or modded. Are you sure you're not talking about some dusty old OG Alpses?

The sprit springs do ping a bit more than stock, but I think that's just because they're new.

I tried it just because my FC660M has a dipswitch for it. I fairly often find myself needing to do a sequence lick Ctrl-C, Ctrl-Shift-V, or similar. With Ctrl up next to A, I needed to release Ctrl before I could hit Ctrl+Shift together. That's a whole extra keystroke. That I'm never getting back. J...

What sort of stabilizers will these key caps have? Signature Plastics key caps with Alps stems tend to have Cherry MX stems on the outsides of the stabilized keys, for Cherry or Costar stabilizers.
