1-key 'keyboard' for controlling aux music playback in my car
Ok, so it's not really a keyboard, but it's an input device and it uses a Cherry switch (fine, a Gateron). Basically I just re-bodied the inline controls and mic from an Android aux cable into a chunky, easy to use format. My stimulus was the recent UK traffic safety laws which mean that newer drive...

I am looking for 110x cherry mx blue and preferably as soon as possible. Do you have them in stock for quick dispatch? 7bit doesn't really do "quick dispatch". Maybe if you get lucky and happen to order really close to his shipping cycle! (I don't mean this as a dig at 7bit - he's a busy man organi...

Goodness, this has taken forever for me to finish and then write up. It's now pretty much at 99% completion - the only work left is cosmetic. That is, I think it would look cool with old-school red/white embossed labels on the switches/dials whatever. If anyone is still reading this and was wanting ...

Haha, brilliant! There's a little gap on my knob between 10 and 1, so maybe I'll add an 11 in myself.Mal-2 wrote: ↑It really, really needs a knob that goes to eleven.

Nice to see a finished project. And not too shabby at that. I always like ammo-boxes as project boxes and the fact that you didn't need to drill into it and keep it waterproof is also nice. Totally unnecessary, but indeed kinda cool ;) Thanks for the kind words! Not quite finished yet, though. :) M...

Most of my code I took from here: https://learn.adafruit.com/pro-trinket-rotary-encoder/overview I added 4 more buttons by duplicating the code where pushing on the encoder mutes/unmutes. I could possibly have done it more efficiently, but I had struggled for ages with annoying debouncing issues and...

Right. This project is 95% complete now! Hooray! It's now drifted a little away from its keyboard roots, but it's still an input device, and it still has some MX clone switches in it, so I thought I'd post a sort of buildlog (thanks @Phenix for reminding me!). All that's left to do now is: 1) drill ...

Couple of full kits and a few handfuls of 'leftovers' up for grabs here. IMG_20160627_165830.jpg With the red outline, most of an icon mod set. The non-staggered caps lock key is missing, but I am happy to provide the function key or blank in it's place. I got the set from a DT member and it was mis...

Well. After a wee bit of googling, trial and error, fiddling, ordering bits and bobs off eBay, we have a working volume knob. Using the code from the tutorial linked to above, but a different circuit design, due to my encoder having debouncing circuits built in. Works well enough - next step: integr...

Right. I got the easy half of this done last week - the easy half being the audio in/out switch. It was subject to a wee bit of feature creep, as it now can not only select one of two outputs, but also one of four inputs. So, I could play music at my desk without having to turn my PC on or unplug an...

Thanks for the reply, Ray. I said Teensy simply because I happen to have a couple lying around, otherwise I would use a cheaper board. So I guess I would copy that code and just change the names of the pins to the relevant ones on the teensy. To add extra media keys in, presumably I would copy & pas...

I'm going to finally bring this back up again, as I'm finally in a position to start looking at this again. First of all, how easy would it be to 'port' this to a Teensy: https://learn.adafruit.com/pro-trinket-rotary-encoder/example-rotary-encoder-volume-control It seems to do basically what I want,...

PCB is printed circuit board. So, I take it what you are trying to do is make a keyboard with an easily swappable layout? Do you want it to look like a grid? If so, you could start by looking at Tipros - they were originally 'point of sale' keyboards, but the layout can be customised to whatever you...

D'oh, sorry. Evidently I skimmed that bit and missed it. So if you do go for 1 controller, how would you connect the two? There's an interesting project here where a guy is planning to use a magsafe connector for a magnetically connected numpad: https://deskthority.net/keyboards-f2/custom-75-1-layou...

Hm, random comes closest out of the available options, but it's not really random per se. It depends what letters my other fingers have been typing before the space. Of course, in the past week or so I've been training myself to use left thumb only, because I've been using an Ergodox, and that's whe...
