Well isn’t this a game changer if ever I saw one. It would certain section the market for vintage beamsprings a bit.

After using the Blue Alps that I got earlier last year, I must confess my views have changed. I now love this switch.

I'm under the impression that the pictured degree of bending is within tolerances. IBM spacebars are made of PBT plastic, which can warp while forming. thanks, I guess that is why PBT space bars are rare. I think you are right, its pretty minor, and it does still function fully. It is just somewhat...

I wouldn't call taking abandoned keyboards looting. If there's a way to make certain they're abandoned, then it's for the best; if not, being in that state and location, I'd call it a good guess.

Spacebar is also destroyed which I don’t think can be taken from a selectric as I believe it is a different size? Spacebar is swappable on my 3278 from a Selectric II, same width and mounts though the material is a lot thinner. Does the selectric have a spot for the stabilizer to go though? I think...

I appreciate it Elrick, but it is what it is. I think it’s an worthwhile but non-vital thing, so “succumb” is not entirely inappropriate.

Try the Model F AT; it's far more familiar for those who are used to a 101-key layout. As for me, if I type consciously for speed, I can manage about 100 wpm on the XT and the same on the AT. It drops to around 95 for the Model M and to around 80 for my 5251, even though it is the same physical layo...
