Re: Steelseries Apex Pro review (OmniPoint Hall effect)

IMHO, at a minimum they should have made the arrows analog as well; or better yet assume the enthusiast/connoisseur tier and go all the way as Wooting has.

Re: IBM Model M - Reproduction Labels?

One word of caution: do not use heat to soften the glue, otherwise you risk deforming the plastic case.

(Also, this isn't the first board we see here with a Hexatek label on it. Are you in the Montreal area by any chance?)

Re: Burn him at the stake

I'm tempted to buy one of this and send it to chyros. I suspect his reaction will be rather "meh" compared to some of his more, ahem, "colorful" ones. Going by that blog post, there doesn't seem to be anything especially offensive with this keyboard when compared to the like of the Smith-Corona or ...

Printed on the board is the VTECH logo. I have not looked into this company at all at this point.
They're still around: Wikipedia article, company website. Maybe I'm dating myself but I thought they were somewhat of a household name.

Re: Looking for IBM Model M2 capacitor part numbers

Thanks for the links! It seems that the controllers have been made by different OEM. Your controller has slightly different silk screening compared to the controllers shown in this thread . Your main chip says Lexmark and Motorola while mine (now 2x) and j0d1's both have IBM and STMicro on them. Y1 ...

Re: has the trackball landscape changed in any way lately?

Quoting myself :P If you're just curious about the general shape and feel of a trackball, elecplus has a couple of Microspeed (CST's old name) units in stock. I added one to an order about a year ago, converted it to USB using TMK. I found the 400 CPI too slow for my tastes, but it was close enough ...

Looking for IBM Model M2 capacitor part numbers

Hello, I'm looking for proper surface mount capacitor part numbers to replace those on an M2 that I could order from a distributor like Digikey or Mouser. (Looked at the capacitor types article on Wikipedia - turns out there's a lot of them) An upgrade recommendation that's not prone to leaking woul...

Re: Non wire-stabilized buckling spring keycaps

I'm in the process of ordering a custom set from Unicomp for my F127, but I'm well-aware that I'm going to have to epoxy the stabiliser holes on the spacebar, so that the F wire fits. Easier: shrink wrap on the thinner wire Alternatively: DIY wire with steel tubing sleeve as shown in this video: ht...

Your image tags are pointing to something on Google Photos that apparently hasn't been setup to be linked from here. Ideally just attach directly here and place inline.

Assuming your "Lots of tobacco" refers to the brown gunk commonly found on those PCBs, that'd be rosin flux.

Re: [WTS] Various Vintage etc.

Concerning your Black Alps, I think the word you're looking for is "bamboo", which distinguishes later SKCM or SKCL switches without slits from earliers ones that have them ("pine"). "Simplified" refers to later contact mechanisms as seen in SKBM switches, versus the earlier "complicated" switchplat...

Before even opening the assembly, try cleaning the oxidation from the membrane contacts that go into the controller. Gentle rubbing (along the length of the contacts) with a pencil eraser should work.

iii.) If I want to do the paper mod on the orange ALPS, where does this little flap of the L-shaped folded piece of paper go? Does the tactile leaf "sit" on the folded piece of paper? Model F barrels / flippers

Hello everyone,

I'm looking to buy 5 flippers and 3 barrels for a Model F, either type (pin or buttress) will do. (It's to convert an AT to ISO with a Model M spacebar)

Thanks,

Re: Why do you need foam on your model f?

I'm going to assume the hammering apart and hammering back into place is what's possibly bending the metal and introducing an inconsistent feel to the board. It's driving me nuts. It wasn't as bad on the first AT I got, where I bent the tabs back instead of hammering the plates apart. My current me...

Lately it's been the F AT for me too, since it has the closest layout to a standard TKL once modded.

So If i use the AT to PS/2 and then the PS/2 to USB i will be able to hot plug the board ? Yes, USB supports it, AT doesn't, so plug your adapter last and voilà! Hot plug.
