Re: Why do you need foam on your model f?

I can't think of another reason why the boards feel like shit after putting them together. I'm going to assume the hammering apart and hammering back into place is what's possibly bending the metal and intorducing an inconsistent feel to the board. It's driving me nuts. It wasn't as bad on the firs...

Re: Some of my best finds from Computer Reset

As for the IBM 5140s it’s not uncommon to see SKCM browns sell for $4 per switch these days in great-or-NIB condition, and maybe $3 for decent condition. As a brown Alps hoarder and enthusiast I’d love to see these go for less but I can’t deny that they are worth those prices. The 5140 has around 6...

Re: Some of my best finds from Computer Reset

Damn Google pics! They automatically delete pictures over a certain age, so the pic of the unsavers is gone, unless I find it somewhere else. Those beamsprings were sent to me as "non-working AT keyboards" Sorry for the interruption, redmaus. The unsavers (I had 8 of them) were sold in 201...

Re: Why do you need foam on your model f?

Bad Model F foam doesn't necessarily completely ruin the key feel but the problems that could arise are that some of the degraded foam could get under some of the flippers. This will cause some keys to become unresponsive or stay pressed when you let go. Another less major problem is you might have ...

Regarding the NOS F XT with the cut cable: Orihalcon or someone else who has opened up F XT units before, please confirm that those "loose" cables (those numbering 50-ish in an earlier post) are indeed the correct ones for it. Re: Univac Keyboard (Micro Switch)

Just a couple of updates. I've still been unable to get TMK working with the "pulse" type switches. I think the pulse it gives off is just too brief and is getting filtered out by the firmware or something. I've not ventured deep into the belly of TMK to see if this is actually correct. I've just b...

Some of my best finds from Computer Reset

As most of you already know, I recently went to a place called Computer Reset in Dallas to scrounge around for keyboards. The place was liquidating its inventory due to the owners health issues. To read more about that adventure check out my other thread: https://deskthority.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=...

Re: Shall we have a DTA 2019?

In all seriousness, something to encourage selling/buying here would be great IMO. I don't know the right vehicle to accomplish that but I think it'd be nice. A lot of cool stuff that people sell (myself included) gets instead posted to reddit/ebay/gh/etc. because they have more active marketplaces...

Re: [SHIPPED] Hua-Jie AK-CN2 Alps clones (ROUND 2)

That's a good point, and it's also the very reason our old company existed in the first place. We bought surplus components from companies that for whatever reason no longer needed the parts. And of course one of the reasons was their misjudging the demand for their product. Since we were (in theory...

Re: Keyboard conversions/mods I did while on a long sick leave.

Toshiba T3100e and a challenger Toshiba T-series computers were successful line of early ’mobile’ computers. They were kind of between ‘luggable computers’ and modern laptops. You could hold them on your lap, sort of. Not comfortably though. My first proper serious girlfriend at university had one ...

Keyboard conversions/mods I did while on a long sick leave.

In March, I was on a crosswalk on my way to work. Car hit me. This did not – technically- end my way to work, due to me being employed by the hospital that ambulance took me. It did however leave me with lot of free time, while my body recovered from that exchange with a car. Two months plus some we...

Wyse PCE made in 1980?

I've got a Wyse PCE that has some conflicting markings on it. Molded on the inside of the case and built into the PCB are 1984 copyrights but the manufacture/inspection stickers all seem to identify 1980. https://i.imgur.com/CVQwUdJ.jpg Unless that "80" on the date of that sticker means something el...

I have actually purged myself of all model Fs =( Sold them off to fund other alps projects or buy other alps boards. Re: TMK keyboard firmware collection

Hi, I'm hoping someone may be able to help me. I'm facing an issue that I haven't seen before. I made a PCB that uses atmega32u4 MCU. I built TMK starting from the gh60 project and modifying it to my board. TMK builds appears to build fine with no warnings. Flashing also looks to be successful, eith...
