Re: Pruning of unlicensed pictures
Hitting Submit and getting slapped with an Nginx 404 is quite unacceptable! As I said, that only happens for some hours at an apparently random moment along the day. The rest of the time the site still works as usual and that's enough for me. ATM I'm working with 5 flaky hard drives, one of them th...

Re: Future of DT
I'm an email admin (been doing my own mail for 17 years, did it for a university before we went Google) and yeah this is stupidly easy to fix. But, it might not fix Gmail delivery completely as they are finicky as all get out (Sendgrid makes good money for a reason). I do see a SPF record, but no D...

Re: Future of DT
There were some site bugs with registration I remember, especially with certain domain names like gmail, for example. This isn't an issue with the site or server. This is a DNS issue...one that has been discussed here in the past, would likely take 5 minutes to fix, but current owners don't seem to...

I do apologize in advance if this comes off a bit personal and/or wanky. While I haven't been active here for a fair while, this forum and its members were an important part of my teenage years, and I still hold them uncomfortably close to my heart. Re: [UK] Free USED 65g zealios
Is this an issue Zealios are known for generally? I remember when they were all the rage when they first came out, but they faded from coverage before anyone had much time to put some mileage on them. I did a bit of internet research when the switches started failing and there was some talk here an...

The poker question answer was 60, yeah. lol. That question "What keyboard is TOkyo PREss famous for?" was one of the others I couldn't figure out. Even with googling a bunch. I suspect it wanted an exact answer and I was off by just a character or something. It's just kinda ambiguous though, you kno...

All true. We could have had a lot more painful drama here. What made the Club fail? I checked out due to bereavement so didn't witness the event. Was it a money thing? Did the transfer of DT's ownership to the Club actually take place? Why was the DT Club wrapped up? I do remember Matt3o's heroic mi...

Re: IBM PS/2 L40sx and PS/2e M4-1 Space Saver keyboards
Hi Shark! You could comfortably argue that the typing feel of the buckling sleeve keyboards was one of the foundations that built the ThinkPad brand, and certainly garnered the loyalty of early users. Contemporary reviews praised the keyboards as the best in the notebook business. It was rated as th...

I was just thinking about this and realised I don't know the answer. Attributes I’m looking for: Light key-feel, with smoothness highly preferred Actuation is high and early in the stroke Actuation coincides with the click/tactile event Clicky preferred but tactile also interesting The sharper the t...

taraskremen this is a great post! It makes sense to keep the mouse and num pad block as you have described. However some old timers with decades of keyboard usage like myself might have too much muscle memory to change the num pad location! On the subject of relegendables, I have not seen too many p...

The Keyboard Oracle has decided: thy problem is not electrical or software, yet mechanical 'i nature. The path to the wholeness may be found by reseating the keycap or by replacing the spring. I feel like these boards should come with a bunch of springs (don't need to be with flippers) free of char...

Re: Restoring a Model M “Battlecruiser” (122 keys, ISO German) from 1999
OK, I finished my replacement controller for the battleship. Hooray! The Blackpill-based setup works. There are some hurdles, but they can be overcome. If using GPIO A10 for the matrix, it needs an additional external pull-up resistor. This has already been planned into the schematics for the replac...

This release is (finally) just essentially a roll-up of all previous fixes (plus some additional ones) that have been informally distributed since the last full release, which was in November 2021. After a few days of extensive usage, I can confirm it works flawlessly on my setup (early Model F62, ...

Latest finished project: How do you like the sound on this chassis? I have been thinking about outfitting an AT101W with blue or amber Alps. I've not tried amber Alps. It's a switch I'd like to try sometime. I don't care too much about sound, although I do like it when the keyboard sounds good, lik...

Hmm, looking at the file you sent, the edge seems really thin (definitely less than half). I measured the edge of a barrel I have lying around at 1mm, so considering that the wall hardly seems like a few pixels in your screenshot, I wouldn't have much faith in the durability of this if you wiggle t...

Eh? The F/XT has a 1u backspace. ..So, I've recorded 51 tracks of 28 buckling spring inner assembly configurations over the last few days. Audacity file is 582MB, so not sharing yet - need to figure out how to chop it to manageable pieces first. Details: 12 keys in 3x4 matrix ("678", "yui", "hjk", "nm,"). Same keycaps (from AT) for...

CoolerMaster should only stay within their limits here. Keep making the HAF styled cases because I love them to bits but stay away, from anything related to KEYBOARDS. Even their mice are somewhat suspect here, eventually fail or break down but their keyboard obsession should be dropped immediately...

So far 83 new beam spring keyboards have shipped, and 5 more will be completed today, bringing the total to 88. So far I have been installing and optimizing the space bar for each person who ordered a key set. Almost all boards were configured with a key set. Here are my current notes on space bar o...

So pretty! Yeah the SSKs seem to fare poorly with their rivets. My SSK needs a bolt mod despite still being new/sealed in box when I found it (hooray for poorly named eBay listings flying under the radar so while not cheap I got a great deal on it considering it was NOS). Biggest mistake was opening...

enthdegree please take a look at the available key caps for this project as they include extra keys that may possibly accommodate the additional layouts. Both the Model F and beam spring keyboards require maintenance as dust and debris enter the keyboard and affect the capacitive sensing, more so wi...

Experimenting with a RISC-V controller
I feel like I'm a bit of an anomaly in the "modern" mechanical keyboard scene. When most people are building 40%, 30%, single switch boards, I've latched on to a 130% layout and keep dragging it through revision after revision. It features an incredibly naive matrix design that's 23 rows x 7 columns...

Longevity isn’t their primary concern. The general lousiness of Model M compared to Model F is much more pronounced. Those membranes can and usually do work for decades without fail, just as they do in the cheapo rubberdome keyboards where they belong.
