Phpbb can be configured to automatically flag the first N posts from a new account as moderated so DT can be spared the embarrasment of looking like a new heaven for spambots. Of course this change must be done by an administrator.

There were some site bugs with registration I remember, especially with certain domain names like gmail, for example.
This isn't an issue with the site or server. This is a DNS issue...one that has been discussed here in the past, would likely take 5 minutes to fix, but current owners don't ...
