BTW. I wish that I could get a good new mouse with a middle mouse button that is not activated by pressing the scroll wheel (and scrolling by mistake each time you want to click). It actually depends on the mouse how hard that is. On some mice you can simply click without scrolling by accident beca...

Just search for buckling spring. :)
The switches often require a lot of force to press and make a lot of noise.
But everybody loves them. They apparently have the same appeal as Hilti and Caterpillar. :p

The assumption that hand movement is bad makes sense from a typing speed point of view but ergonomically I don't see it.

And considering typing speed I'm not sure either. People can type extremely fast using only their index fingers.

Disclaimer: I don't know of any evidence that anything keyboard related actually helps with this kind of problem. However here are a few things that anecdotally seem to work: 1. Switch to a different layout. I'm not entirely sure that something like neo2 or dvorak or colemak are actually better or i...

How do I assemble my ErgoDox cleanly?

It has these fancy see-through acrylic sheets, now I see all the dirt that is between these sheets.
Any advice for cleaning? I have tried but I seem to always leave at least as much dust and lint as I clean away.

HJKL? I would find ESDF or IJKL more obvious. :)
I mean sure, I have a lot of experience with vim so I don't mind but it wouldn't have been my first suggestion.

Well, yeah money is an issue because I think a phantom kit if you can get a hold of one is somewhat north of 200 €. Going with a PCB mounted board might make your life a lot easier. You could potentially even leave out the plate when modding a Ducky. No idea how that would feel, though. If you want ...

The problem is that you have to desolder all the switches (without breaking anything) because they are sandwiched between the PCB and the plate. Then you have to open all the switches (without breaking anything) to add your mods. Then you have to add LEDs to the PCB (without breaking anything) which...

I hope that the LEDs will not shine through the PBT-Keycaps, so that I can add a nice colorful underglow to the whole keyboard by adding LEDs to every switch. Is that doable with this keyboard or is there something special I need to learn about the PCB? I found a thread on geekhack (http://geekhack...

Just check the keys for shorts with a multimeter. You don't really need a schematic since it is only a matrix for the keys. It just looks a little more complicated because you have left and right side on both PCBs.

If you can find something that almost matches you might get by with a bit of drilling and rewiring. Might be reasonably cheap if you want an almost standard layout. As others have suggested, post a picture of your desired layout. :)
