Re: Alternate Reality IBM colours

This is 2020 in a nutshell.
  • Ellipse model Fs finally starting to ship
  • New quasi-authentic IBM color designs discovered
My F77 deserves to be green!

👽 The one typing video that the GOVERNMENT doesn't want you to see!!! 👽

Actual found footage from Area 51. Appears to be some early Foam & Foil custom made keyboard for the military.
But yeah anyways, today I found this ridiculous video I had recorded a long time back. Thought it was pretty funny so wanted to share.

Re: Stuff you just bought

Bought these two things around the same time recently. Today, out of necessity, they got mashed together to make something that I probably could have purchased for very cheap. Instead I have an overpriced pet tripod flashlight that might just come to life if I'm not careful. https://i.imgur.com/8lui...

Re: Alternate Reality IBM colours

Iirc PVC is pretty easy to dye, so it wouldn't be impossible to dye a model M case. Whether the colour will match close enough or not is a different matter. Failing that you can always paint the case. You don't have many options when it comes to dyes. At least not on the consumer market. It's also ...

Re: Keyboard Photogrammetry

Well it looks like my weekend project is all done, and the weekend is only beginning. And just as well, because I'm now wiped out and don't feel like doing much of anything. I feel like this pattern happens to me a lot... So yeah, I jumped the gun a bit and did this one over a few evenings. It turne...

Re: Keyboard Photogrammetry

Finished taking all the photos. I ended up shooting with the lens set to 50mm and f11. I guess the sweet spot for most lenses is more toward the center? The pictures were very sharp, but definitely didn't get the same depth of field I had at f22. I'm not sure how much this matters, though, because I...

So I printed some miniatures I was going to send to snacksthecat Very excited to get these. I can't say thanks enough, I've never had anything 3D printed before. Really piqued my interest and got the gears turning in my head. So I recently bought on MM a hi-pro HHKB with fancy aftermarket domes. I'...

Is this the same one which had a warped case at one point?
Yep, you are correct. I can get it to snap back together (barely) but it has actually shrunk so it no longer accommodates the all of the keycaps. So a bunch of them rub.

Anyone want to do a small run of F122 cases in alternate reality fun colors?

Not at all asking because I have a huge crack in my F122 case. Nope, that's not why.

Sometimes it's the hidden grossness that'll get you. https://www.reddit.com/r/mechmarket/comments/frg8w4/eudehnixdorf_nixie_softtouch_and_sob_story/ I can appreciate the seller's transparency but I don't think I'd be able to look past "the implication". Indeed you can. Along with the soarer's firmware download, you should also have some utilities that came with the firmware. https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=17458.0 Here's a description of the tools from the documentation: Tool Description scas - Assembles one or more config text files to a conf...

Re: Where do you guys find your vintage keyboards?

Yeah I've gotten that line myself a few times. I work in IT so I can understand the concern. Companies won't want to contract with the center for destruction services if they have any reason to believe that the security of their data (talking about hard drives, phones, etc.) could be picked through ...

Re: Where do you guys find your vintage keyboards?

A lot of people just call around to electronics recycling centers to see if they can come pick through boards. But I've heard that fewer and fewer of these places are even accepting keyboards any longer (something about China, plastic, and teriffs I think). Whatever the reason, it's a bit sad to thi...

Eh, I may have philosophical differences (which is kind of sad because we're talking about e-waste aka literally garbage).

But that being said, I don't think any actual stealing happened. At least based off of the info available.

You can only program from the KitProg end **once** - KitProg will fail to acquire port after programming because programming pins are reused as GPIOs.
