Re: [Done] CommonSense controller - better capsense!

This was going through my mind as I was falling asleep last night: What is the reason for disabling scanning in FlightController if the keyboard is "insane" when it's plugged in? I was having trouble with getting a bad 5251 PCB to work so I went in and tweaked the FlightController code to allow insa...

Re: Should the "6" key be pressed with the left or right hand?

When doing normal typing, I seem to use my left index finger

When typing just numbers, I seem to use my right index finger

But I hunt and peck when it comes to most numbers so it's probably a big messy mix

Re: Stuff I got in China (Poll)

The Televideo 955 is really clean (actually all the boards you posted look nice)! If it was the 1-eyed space invaders, I'd ask you to keep it (someone recently reached out to me looking for those switches). I had a chuckle seeing this on ebay BIN for $199 https://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-TELEVIDEO-9...

Re: What the hell? (IBM 5556?)

We, including myself for sure, could really use a worked example of a hard one, and maybe even a flowchart! It gets complicated. E-Z, P-Z, fuck-all impossible! Really, as you know, you have to have a bit of understanding of how different matrixes are laid out, or at least the ability to recognize p...

Re: What the hell? (IBM 5556?)

Neatly done. Always better to pull out the old controller when it’s as daft as that. A Teensy++ usually has the same footprint and is a joy to use. Think you could explain the process of working out the matrix? I’ve often been asked. I know you said you're video averse but it seemed like the easies...

Re: What the hell? (IBM 5556?)

Well we've decided to take this in a totally different direction. The keyboard as-is doesn't send 'break' codes. It only sends 'make' codes (and repeats the code if a key is held). This unfortunately makes it impossible to convert the protocol without making some big typing compromises. So for that ...

Re: What the hell?

Because channel 2 changes when channel 3 is low, it seems that a reading from channel 2 is valid only whilst channel 3 is high. Therefore, I would guess that ch3 is the Clock signal and ch2 is the Data signal. Channel 0 looks like a filtered data signal. (ch3 logic-AND ch2) A message seems to start...

Re: Omron75, the year of B3G-S omrons

Since switches seem to be hard to recover has anyone tried using a product called Chipquick which helps lower the melting point of solder? That's a great suggestion. I've never tried that product but these types of tricks are necessary when working with sensitive switches. Micro Switch SD has a sim...

Re: Fortune Systems looooong keyboard with Digitran capacitive switches (conversion)

User101 would really like to see this reborn with a buzzer. I don't think I can keep the buzzer soldered onto the original board like it is and get it working like that (in place). So I'm borrowing a buzzer from another keyboard. I understand conceptually how this should work (i.e. apply power, prod...

How is the key feel? I can't imagine that sliding contacts would be any good. They feel okay . But the travel is so short on these that most of the scratchiness doesn't have a chance to come out. Four interesting Alps switches

First of all, let me say I'm not sure if this are keyboard switches. The metal one in particular seems quite weird (I'll explain why later). I saw them pop up on ebay and my curiosity got the best of me so I bought them. Cool little addition to my small switch collection I figure. I've got the rest ...
