I also do the finger. I'm not sure why but I've always just use my right index finger for space. To make me more of a monster, I only use left shift and pinkies are really only used for modifiers and enter.

P70 or P75. The last two P70s on ebay only sold for around $50 each, and a keyboard for $25.

Controller IC shows that date's wrong. '89 copyright so the keyboard had to be made sometime after '88.

I'm not 100% sure but they might not work without a dial tone. Sadly I can't test myself at the moment until I dig up some power cables.

They are. These here have both 6P2C (aka phone line) or the acoustic coupler on top for portable use. They can run on 8x NiMH batteries as well as 9VDC input.

Ultratec Supercom 4400 TTW w/ USw LXBW02 Switches

I picked two of these TTYs up at a surplus sale just for cool factor, the switches are just a bonus. Upon pulling a key I found an odd white slider. Hit up the wiki to find it's a USw LXBW02 switch with a white slider. The switches are the linear version and fairly heavy, MX Blacks feel lighter. The...

Damn, people are actually bidding on that. I should sell some $80 + $1 shipping. I've always thought XT boards were near worthless, the last one I sold on ebay only went for $40 + shipping.

I'd also say clone, but still cool. Notice the back label says 1986 but the controller IC says 1989 as a copyright. There's also the lack of IBM branding on the IC, something I don't recall ever running across before.

Still interesting and something I'd like to find some day.

Looks rubberdome. There's unpopulated switch spots to the side of Code\Mode with a blue dome there. The keycap mount is also fairly common on 90s laptop rubberdomes.

D7x00 should be plenty enough for keyboards. I'm still using a D90 w/ a shitty 28-80 f/3.3-5.6G lens from an N55 . I'd personally go for a mid range body (like the D7200) and find a decent tripod at the minimum, possibly a light as well. Being as keyboards don't move it's easier to setup on a tripod...

Looks a lot like the Desko I have, it might actually be one. Main differences I see are mine's ANSI, has a trackpoint thing in front and has a permanently attached serial cable. The casing and cutout for the keys are the same.

It shouldn't. In the past when I dyed caps I had no problem with texture. You might get a texture change if you get the batch too hot and melt the caps but that'd take some effort.

If mailing in the US, the USPS large flat rate game boxes hold IBM keyboards fine, whether XT or 122 or M (I've mailed all). On XT and M you need a little more packing to fill the ends but I've found crumpled newspaper works well at filling that in.
