As far as I know MX switches are identical apart from the slider and the spring. The slider and spring is easily replaceable if you do as Mu suggests. If you transplant the slider and the spring from a clear switch, you get an MX clear switch on the board. You could of course skip transplanting the ...

Of course! The sports car analogy makes total sense. Regarding the noise, I've never heard a type-s, but I've to say that I think the standard HHKB is really rather quiet, at least to my ears - coming from an IBM. Having said that, I am interested if you get a silencing kit out, cookie. If nothing e...

I got my HHKB today and while I've yet to adapt to the quirks of the layout I really like this little thing! Ok, I might be a bit biased, having just spent $260 on it, but I really like the feeling of the switches and the board in general. The reason I got it is two-fold. Part of it is the same as c...

Nice writeup on an interesting subject. I was contemplating getting a Type-S myself, when I ordered an HHKB some time ago. In the end I decided to go for the standard one, partly due to price and partly due to me wanting a black one. I have still to receive it though, but I think I will get it at th...

I think you're just defining things in the wrong order. Try this instead: <root> <item> <name>R_Option for Display Sleep</name> <identifier>private.option_display_sleep</identifier> <autogen>__KeyToKey__ KeyCode::CONTROL_R, ModifierFlag::CONTROL_R, KeyCode::VK_CONSUMERKEY_EJECT, ModifierFlag::CONTRO...

I don't want to make the system sleep, just turn off the display. No screensaver, just a blank screen... I hope there's a way to do it. Simply. So a simple fellow like me can do it. :D I don't have a right ctrl on the laptop I'm at atm :o :o , so I instead changed right cmd plus option to have the ...

Unfortunately, I think that they are not as pretty as the original IBMs. As has been stated before (by you I think), Unicomp's are nice on their own but not so nice next to IBMs.

Like most things Model M, Unicomp sells them: http://pckeyboard.com/page/Misc/PVPLASM I have a fair few spares, but shipping to Sweden is about 4 Euros from here. Your best fix would be if someone more local has some spares, too. Nice bundle by the way: I've still no RGB mods, myself. Thanks Mu! To...

Would some soft landing pads work instead of custom cutting a foam sheet? No, the thing is that with Topre, you want to silence the upstroke rather than the downstroke, whick means that you do need to disassemble it. As Hypersphere and cookie said, you can always go for the type-s if the modding se...

The thing is that everything was running smoothly until Yosemite struck. Guessing that there are some issues with the gpu drivers (or similar) for my model.
