IBM Factory #1 ?

Hi, I was looking at the ibm website and found this page about a Canadian factory/head office in Toronto https://www.ibm.com/ibm/history/exhibits/vintage/vintage_4506VV2030.html 4506VV2030.jpg It seems to indicate that the building at 300 Campbell Avenue in Toronto is where the Computing-Tabulating-...

Re: IBM model F XT not working suddenly

Hey ;) No intermittent typing whatsoever. It just died completely. What do you mean by disassembling? To part the plate from PCB, put off keycaps and pull all flippers out? How come it could be of any help? I already put off the back lid, unplugged the internal cable connector, and plugged it back ...

Re: IBM model F XT not working suddenly

Thank you very much. So, the biggest chip is Intel 8048 controller. Is it flashable? Or if it's a culprit, and I change it, it will work right away? Hi, I do not know whether that will work or not. I suppose it is possible, but I have no experience. I am not saying its impossible for the chips to f...

Re: Question about 3D printed case

Hi, highly recommend using knife in addition also flat cutters/nippers to remove the material. Sanding should only be done later and in a progressive grit. The little edges are long strands from the printing process and the plastic might sort of delaminate at the edges if you try to sand it first. A...

As for a use of the models you are making I've also been investigating printing them and processing them into models for fun purposes.

I think it would be really fun to have a collection of keyboard models! (The first one came out mirrored..)

OK so have been speaking to the seller since last night and he has offered a 40% refund. is that enough to warrant trying to clean up the oil and restore those 4 switches? Honestly for a 40% refund that's totally worth it. I cleaned mine with isopropyl alcohol. I would generally agree, but in this ...

Re: Have you ever gotten scammed in a keyboard-related transaction?

I bought a white alps keyboard one time. The seller must have had no idea how to remove keycaps without breaking the stem because a few of the stems were broken off inside the sliders. Unfortunately the seller was quite good at liberally applying glue to the bottom of the broken off keycaps to make ...

Hrm interesting. Part of the force curve is that you are putting energy into typically a return spring and it stores it up to return the key back up. I am not sure if it is possible to have a force curve as you want using normal metal springs. I can't remember how Hooke's law works, its been many ye...
