I tried to get in contact with a few recycling centers around me, but the main ones I could find were state run and as such, did not want to negotiate with Keyboard Terrorists like me. Really should take another look to find some privately owned centers. Great hauls you have here so far Wodan, hopef...

Forgive me if I have already read it, and forgotten it, but have you gotten back the analysis of the exact flipper material used? Very interested in that.

Some of my Rotobeam fans are incredibly quiet, and pushes more air then a lot of modern junk, and as Andrew said, look sexy as hell. I find old fans quite enjoyable to work on. Nice work on this one, Andrew!

I am sorry for your loss lizard. Really sucks. == I like the idea of the case a lot. Looks like a very elegant case. The board itself is still going to be relatively think as it can only be as thin as the barrels are, but I think it could be an elegant design. Like Muirium and I were talking about y...

I really like the idea of Model F Type S barrels, if we can find a way to silence that upstroke.

Just crudely tested that Mu, It does not effect key feel all that much, and you right that it silences the initial buckle of the spring, but the flipper hitting the pcb is still audible, and you still get a nice ping when the spring returns to form on the upstroke. I just used a piece of thinly cut ...

Great news! I would agree that keeping things original would be preferred for this go around. The SSK really is great as is, and split right shift is not nearly as important on it as it is on a 60% (as Muirium said). Just a standard F drop in for the SSK is all I want. On the issue of Flippers/Barre...

I have a collection of about 130 Green Alps I desoldered from a pretty grimy looking keyboard a while back, and the switches just kinda suck. I have tried going through thorough cleaning, taking them all apart cleaning with detergent, and some with alcohol. I have never tried NIB Alps of any kind, h...

Gotcha, 1/16" is what I used on my other Model Fs, just wanted to confirm. Getting SA keycaps on a Model F would be seriously cool, and if I understand what you are talking about correctly, your idea is to see how well the board holds up when used with a flat plate/PCB, as that would eliminate the p...

Very exciting news, and incredible work coming out of you guys here. You can count me in for what ever kit you guys wind up putting together. Any hints as to whether it would be worth working on accumulating more XT barrels and and flippers, or are those both things you plan to have covered?

I still have yet to put together my FSSK, but to comment on my experience with xwhatsits converters: proper voltage threshold and grounding have always been my primary issues. On my F107, my voltage threshold can't go any higher as I get a bunch of random keypresses and lower, and keys don't registe...

I put in an order for a PCB myself. I love the project enough, and want an FSSK enough that I don't want to let this slip by. However it will probably be quite a while before I gather all the parts needed, and have the large amount of time required to put everything together.

Nothing inherently wrong with the standard 60% layout, and I am not wishing to change it. However when it comes to projects like these, I think we all have learned what we prefer in a keyboard layout and I figure we use this as an opportunity (like the WhiteFox) to tackle a layout or design that has...

Hasu has the square 60% alps market covered well, and there have been multiple good opportunities to hop on that train already.
