I actually have a plan that may or may not work out - get Unicomp to print an APL keyset (in some cool color like Yellow or green) and a matching color enter key and sell the stock keys on the Model M to recoup costs - is this a good plan? I'm not sure they can customize ...

I usually use GooGone and scrub it by hand. It's not too bad on the rounded coiled cables, but the flat ones are a pain. The denture tablet idea sounds good if you can keep both ends of the cable dry. I may have to try that...

Hmmm. It is unusual for a black barrel plate to have white space bar stabilizers, at least in my experience. If the 3/1/88 is a manufacturing date then it isn't particularly old. Do you have any other pics? The back label would be helpful. :)
