Re: IBM Model M with gold square badge?
The picture you posted is already very good. And I admit, that in the lower two corners I can't see any hints of a sticker, but on the top two corners I'm quite sure to see the edges of a sticker. But I don't want to push you into trying to remove it. If it sits so well and evenly, it's quite ok as ...

Re: Zeigt her eure ISO-DEs!
Danke.

Re: IBM Model M with gold square badge?
I had no issues with 3 protective films, either. All the more I was surprised to see that at the forth a little bit of the legend stayed on the film.
So I just wanted to mention it: Better safe than sorry.

Re: IBM Model M with gold square badge?
I think there might be still a protective sticker on it, which has yellowed.
Should you try to peel it off, check very carefully, if some of the IBM lettering gets off too. Maybe it would be good to warm up the sticker with a hair dryer beforehand.

NCR-06.jpg A NCR H0150-STD1-01-17 keyboard (for NCR Decision Mate IV or V) The build quality and the feeling of the "RAFI RS 76 M" switches (orange) are nothing to write home about, but I really like the look of these keycaps. They're quite thin, but otherwise they wouldn't fit over the switches. N...

As I wrote at the end of my initial post - The 5251 keyboard looks a bit bloated in front of a 27" Apple Display. Nice! I have a soft spot for the "Bigfoot". It's such an elegant keyboard, although its USP - the low height - is somewhat lost, if its extremely long feet are extended. And using these feet, seems to have been the norm as I have seen in this promotional video for the System/36 (https://www.youtube....

The 3178 should definitely be a model F. I would think IBM got confused with their stickers in this case.

@vometia: Apart from the shoes - I can totally relate to your buying motives. :) (Estimated ship date is Feb 10, 2020 btw.) I don't quite understand, what you all are talking about. On Model F XT/ATs there is a space between "Pg Up" AND "Pg Dn", only at "Pg Dn" it's a bit smaller.
"PgUp" and "PgDn" without space screams "Model-M".

I don't think so. The only important thing is, when you plug it in again, to first connect the converter to the keyboard and then the converter to the pc.consensual-penis wrote: ↑23 Aug 2019, 06:16off topic, but would unplugging an adapted F XT cause any problems?

Indeed.
The golden spacebar representing a lipstick case or brush handle. I find it quite original and I have seen many many worse color combinations on keyboards.

Re: IBM model F XT not working suddenly
In case you use USB extension cables: You should try it without them. I had a "Tinkerboy" Soarer's converter from the Philippines and it seemed to be sensitive to cable length. If that's not it, try to move the original keyboard cable into different positions and check constantly, if some keypresses...

Ah, ok. So if you would prefer AltGr - Esc - e (without the FN) to type a "è", it's not a problem. (still a keypress more than the sophisticated Windows route, but hey ;) ). To program <ESC> = "`" <Shift>+<ESC> = logical negation thingy <FN> + <ESC> = ESC you would have to do: - choose layer - <FN> ...

Re: MX blacks: random impressions
vometia mentioned "à" and "`" being in the function layer of the ESC key on the Pok3r. The "´" (in contrast to " ' ") on the other hand seems to be missing completely on an UK layout as far as I can see.
But maybe we better let vometia have her well-deserved rest and let her clear it up later.

Or - if you are used to "`" on this position, you can also reprogramm:

<Shift>+<ESC> = that strange rotated L-thing, one can only find on UK keyboards (how is it called?)

Re: MX blacks: random impressions
On these Vortex boards you can remap only whole keys (for which on a 60 % the options are very limited) or the <FN> layer. So you can't change the behaviour of <Alt> + something. Because for <F1> you have to press <FN>+<1>, <Alt><F1> requires <FN>+<Alt>+<1>, I'm afraid. Concerning "`": Would it help...

I have several Vortex boards (ViBE and Race 3), so I have a bit of experience with programming them, should there be any questions. Re: Can't get some keys on Model F to stick to spring
From my experience the best way to hold the keyboard - when putting on keys - is with the cable (if it comes out of the back) pointing downwards. Then the springs lean against the back of the barrels and the keys should catch them in the right way.

A Vortex ViBE is even closer to a F77.
It only has that 1 column additional on the right.

Wazrach is of course correct. The other cases can't hold a candle to an XT.
And should anybody hit the case with an axe, you can touch the XT up with a bit of paint, while on the other "pure" plastik cases it will never look right again.
