Seller says it has neon green Alps. The bidding's at $879.42 with 5 days left, so I'd say it probably is.

Re: Vintage Increases Value?

I find the above a bit amusing, mostly because it fails to consider the fact that what is driving the market up is the niche of collectors who are loaded and really desire these input devices. Demand isn't going to change in the collector's market regardless of where technology goes. There will neve...

Re: Vintage Increases Value?

It is very unfortunate seeing prices become so astronomical these days. Back when I got into the hobby even as late as 2015, things were still relatively underground and prices are a fraction of what they are today. I remember passing up an original IBM kishsaver in 2016 on eBay for $450 and it's a ...

I wonder what OG unmodified F62/77 would go for on eBay these days There's a broken and bootleg industrial painted one for $3k that started for several thousand higher that continues to not sell, so it would seem people wanting to empty their bank accounts on a keyboard would like it at least origi...

F50 and F107 were not nearly as desirable as kishsavers or unobtainum-level F77 until Ellipse's repros made it easier to be more blase about them

This feels like people complaining about overpriced Japanese shitboxes from the 80s and 90s but ignoring that they can get a 3 year old Mustang for a bargain. OG Kishsaver or F77, pretty much. Not repros.

Aside from that? Hmm, hard to say. So much has gotten so expensive these days that a lot is just priced out of most budgets.

Re: Great/Interesting Finds

I understand the demand for the LE DC-3014. It hits a lot of notes that make it very desirable, and it's not just the fact it (most often) comes with Alps SKCM Blues. 1) Blue Alps 2) NKRO - Press all the keys 3) ANSI Layout - So quite modern and ideal for many 3a) Keycaps - It has high quality Alps ...

Re: Blue Alps Packard Bell Keyboard, not sure which model

Can you check and see if these have NKRO? I recall some models seeming to have positions for diodes, but they are either not utilized and/or the IC has blocking.

Also, this model is based on the FDA-102 from Forward Electronics, rebranded for Packard Bell.

I think the FUD over "questionable Chinese machining" in the repro F's may be misplaced. AFAIK a big part of the long lead time is Ellipse being super anal about tolerances before accepting parts. Not to burst the apologist bubble, but the QA isn't flawless. https://i.imgur.com/A5WSL0m.png https://...

Re: Topre RealForce 104UG - HiPro

I believe the housings are mostly for protection of the longer, more exposed stems from knocks that might snap them. There is not added stability at all, but the housings do act as a "bumpers" of sorts, as a boundary that stops the cap from shifting too much if hit. It does not help with smoothness ...

Yes, they are fine. The owner is a great guy. He helped me get a board that they miraculously had in stock as a return after being sold out (Topre Realforce Ducky Taiwan Edition).

It's a legitimate business. You have nothing to worry about with them.

Re: Advice on retrobrighting

You do not need to remove it. It won't damage the label. I've retrobrighted keyboards for years now, and these labels are often made from some kind of Mylar, PET film, I'd guess. They won't be affected by RB. Consequently, if the label HAS yellowed, it's done for. You can't restore it using any meth...
