Can you check and see if these have NKRO? I recall some models seeming to have positions for diodes, but they are either not utilized and/or the IC has blocking.

I believe the housings are mostly for protection of the longer, more exposed stems from knocks that might snap them. There is not added stability at all, but the housings do act as a "bumpers" of sorts, as a boundary that stops the cap from shifting too much if hit. It does not help with smoothness ...
