Re: Where to buy replacement Model M barrel plate?
Yeah we're both on the same side. I think the directive has good intention, but small companies can get hit real hard in the crossfire. These things are really targeted at Apple and Samsung etc. Those big guys can afford to keep old parts inventory available. (They just prefer not to: buy a new mod...

Re: Hello from a new guy!
Considering how common model Ms are, they are unlikely to be at price levels of XTs.

Re: Great/Interesting Finds
I would file this one under “interesting” as it’s a Model M that was skinned alive, turned into a Frankenstein’s monster, then had IKEA desk lamps bolted to it... but it does have a certain charm. No doubt took a lot of work but the decimal point still feels wrong. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Steampun...

Re: Idea: Modern Beamspring replica?
I was wondering, shouldn't it be possible to make modern Beamspring Keyboards just like the modern Model F's? Sure it would be expensive, though I doubt the price would be anywhere near what Beamers go for these days. It wouldn't even have to be an exact replica of the real thing, as in you could c...

Re: ReSKCM - Optical rework, and cloning of Alps SKCM/SKCL switches
I've had 5 Alps based boards over the years (2 SKCM blues, 1 white, 1 orange, 1 salmon), they were so disappointing it'd be such a waste of time, money and resources to try get them remade.

Re: Model M SSK Case
Great job on the 3D printing! But then again, Unicomp (eventually and hopefully in the next 3 years) will begin selling their minis. They will also have their cases sold as parts. Going by their current pricing for the model M cases, they are likely to be in the range of 20 to 30 USD. Given this, I ...

Ok that is good to know, however I cancelled because I didnt want to risk waiting to get it after the holidays/new year, because it defeats the purpose. So in that case I prefer to order directly from orihalcon, and let it take as long as it will, because I consider it a finer product. Thanks for y...

Re: Great/Interesting Finds
Even though IBM had a plant in Greennock for many years, Model Ms are an order of magnitude harder to find outside of the US (perhaps with the exception of Canada and Mexico). Besides that, terminal keyboards were sold with systems, such as the AS400, which were probably also much more rare outside...

Re: New Solenoid Driver Available (tested, works!)
First of all, I would like to thank you for all the boards you make and publish. I have already ordered several v1.0 PCBs from JLCPCB (they have restocked the inductor as of today) and I'm looking for a solenoid that would be compatible with the driver board. Have you been able to test it with any ...

Re: How to use a Pro Micro as a cheap controller/converter
Usually the controller chip schematics are public. Use a multimeter to trace back cable leads to what is VCC and GND. For Data and Clock, just try both options until it works ....vibierendi13 wrote: ↑11 Nov 2020, 08:44how did you guys determine that line is clock data + 5v when the board is unmarked

Re: Switch DIN cables between KBs?
Short answer - No you can't
Long answer - The PCB side connector is different by brand, model numbers and so on. The only way to be sure is to check the pin schematics and determine what each of the pins are designated as.
