Re: Deskthority Awards 2014 - Request for Comments
Sorry, I should have phrased that question differently. Should the line between mod and self-build be defined somehow? Like when someone completely guts a keyboard and rebuilds the internals, for example wcass's XTant or lowpoly's M0110. I'm probably over thinking it.

Re: Deskthority Awards 2014 - Request for Comments
Some questions that may or may not matter: Is anything too old to qualify for the current-year awards in scope for the vintage award? Is there a need to draw the line between keyboard mod and self-built? Also there is a lot of great restoration work being done lately. Should those efforts be awarded...

Re: Open hardware keyboard schematics and cases?
A while back matt3o ran a group buy for custom keyboards. I believe the design file for the cases of all of the keyboards is posted there. The one I built is documented here, to some degree (still not complete).

Re: i$k - Setting (or not) a project to create a keyb conver
I thought that we could treat the mouse as a keyboard. why not ? The internal representation should include a parameter indicating the amount of displacement but the rest would be the same. This would allow to remap the keys and movements. One could also run a macro when a button is pressed. If you...

Nice figure. What do blue and yellow represent? FWIW, the code I was working on is here . So far all I've done is start porting ChibiOS to the Teensy 2.0/2.0++ (feature/teensy20pp branch) and start re-implementing maxtrix scanning code (feature/keyboard branch). Here's an updated architecture that a...

Re: XT/AT/PS2/Terminal to USB Converter with NKRO
I'm dabbling with implementing a new firmware based on ChibiOS. My custom keyboard has a lot of components and would benefit from the multithreading support. Like you say getting it off the ground is a large undertaking so it would be great to collaborate with others.

Cookie, is the material you're experimenting with anything like this? It appears to be designed for mounting displays in mobile devices and is very thin. I'm trying to duplicate your silencing efforts on a HiPro and have samples of that material coming in 0.1, 0.15, 0.25 and 0.3 mm thicknesses.

Re: Bringing the IBM PC XT into the 21st Century
Does anyone know what would be required to make an F13 XTant or if that is even possible? How similar are the F internals to those of the M and could they accommodate a TrackPoint?

Re: HyperMicro Development
Good point, that would give more flexibility and extra keys to non-TrackPoint keyboards. If needed you could have the firmware merge in the PS/2 button state to use TP features like press-to-select.

Re: HyperMicro Development
If you are using an IBM TrackPoint module, the buttons can wire up to the TP (instead of the kbd matrix), which will encode their state into the PS/2 mouse data that is passed to the keyboard controller via the data and clock lines suka mentioned.

Great project. Something like this would be nice to have on an armchair, sort of like webwit's DataHand, especially if both sides could be made wireless.

hold on... why not a modular design then? http://i.imgur.com/NAxPhLs.png basically the base plate is the same for all, then you just change the sides (mid layers) and place over the new module (to the left or to the right) Good idea. If I understand your idea correctly, it may require some addition...

I'm really excited to see this group-build. :D A lot of great ideas are coming out of it and the PCBs will take a lot of the pain out of making a custom keyboard. Though I don't think I'm ready to commit to another custom keyboard project, I've been working on some layout ideas and thought this woul...

And then there's the stepped pyramid concept I have for a minimised TKL case. This could be brilliant. Do you have a sketch? I'm thinking it's like the 60% main typing area at the regular height, but then the other 15% (arrow keys, ins/del/home/end cluster, etc.) sort of recessed at a lower height,...
