Re: IBM Model M With Hybrid Terminal Keys
That's one of the cleanest IBM bottom labels I've ever seen. Great job on the cleanup/restoration.

Re: Great/Interesting Finds
$250 is definitely a good price for an F122 right now but keep in mind that seller had a rather low feedback score and only posted two (REALLY blurry) pictures. Wouldn't surprise me if both were in really bad shape underneath. Seller only showed a picture of the bottom of one of them, so the cynic ...

Re: KBP V60 Datacomp Brown Alps
It's a shame no one has worked to reproduce the original Alps SKCM switches. It seems like they would have a market--I find it hard to believe that anyone would prefer the simplified switches to a proper modern version of blue Alps.

Re: Great/Interesting Finds
At least auctions like this raise awareness that they can be sold for quite a bit, which will draw more out of the woodwork and bring prices down over time due to increased supply out there for sale. Solid logic. I'm still hoping that might happen for beamers someday. But realistically, I'll bet to...

Re: This is not double shot
I'm super late to this thread, but that's the best all-over dyesub I've seen. The legends are perfectly sharp, and it makes the sets on eBay look even more crappy by comparison. But now that this method seems to be taking off, can we talk about the long-term stability of the pigments being used? It ...

Re: A Compact SSK
I think it's a good solution to attach the tops of the space bar stabilizers with screws. It does kind of beg the question though: is it worth exploring building up the frame out of screwed together layers? Would that be appreciably less expensive than machining the whole thing together as one piece?

Re: IBM Model-F-like keyboard designs
My own opinion is that two spacebars would be enough. I think most people would use the one under N/B as space, and the one to the left as backspace, like the "erase ease" configuration on some vintage keyboards. Or since it's reconfigurable, they might want to use it as an easy to reach modifier/fu...

Re: IBM Model-F-like keyboard designs
Take ANSI split backspace and move backspace one row down to |\. Please, no. Unless this is an optional alternate config. Rick, the layout looks nice and symmetrical, but have you prototyped the locations of the three space bars in actual use? From the picture I think my right thumb will impact exa...

My favorite to look at were NMB's implementation of stepped caps. Pics are not mine; they're from a completed eBay auction. Rick, the tiny backspace and big-ass enter key are totally UNcool, so don't get any ideas. :D https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180715/22ec081761ee1b52fd6c9697405dcf97.jpg htt...

Re: IBM Model-F-like keyboard designs
Agree that the stepped caps can be aesthetically nice, but in use it's rather annoying to be forced to hit long keys only in one small spot. I would definitely recommend designs that fill the available space between keys and can be hit anywhere along their length (necessitating some sort of stabiliz...

Thanks again for letting me try your prototype, wcass! I'm looking forward to reading the whole write-up.
I've been really yearning for an MF SSK lately. Reading about custom capacitive buckling spring projects like this will help my patience.

That's great news you got paid. I don't know if you saw it, but about a month back, Chyros did a review on his YouTube channel of the "APT Hall effect keyboards."
