Re: IBM (and now Alps) keyboard pixel art wallpaper generator [updated 2021-01-07]
Okay, sorry to make an ask like this, but if I could make a feature request: Would it be possible to have some iteration where we can choose a blacklist or whitelist on specific boards? I want to make one as close to my collection as possible. Or am I missing this and it is already an option? For mo...

Re: Fujitsu Leaf Spring 3rd gen, cleaning
Frankly, no idea. I think these take well enough to traditional lubes though that such a thick grease as what he's looking at won't be needed.

Re: Fujitsu Leaf Spring 3rd gen, cleaning
Those things are fine to clean and I'd encourage it. I'd also recommend using some dry or light wet lubricant, can help with any off center binding on particularly dirty ones.

Re: ReSKCM - Optical rework, and cloning of Alps SKCM/SKCL switches
One reservation I may have in particular with this idea, though I do encourage you to try to make prototypes for the sake of it, is that the complicated switchplate and contact leaf actually provide a part of the alps feeling, especially in linears. That isn't to say that an opto-electric version wo...

An SKCM recreation is one of those potential money pits I would throw my money in if I won a very large lottery, but not otherwise.

Re: Y'all might hate me, but here's my problem ...
Uh. I don't want to solicit necessarily but I do want to make it known I have an OmniMac Ultra in good condition (missing top left badge but otherwise quite clean and the switches are nice), and I need to get rid of keyboards myself... That one included.

Grado SR80's are neat for what they are, and nowadays I use my Meze 99 Neos when I'm not working (Have some AudioTechnica MH50x for that). Very comfortable cans, those. I was originally gonna get the classic but the Neos were much cheaper and I do like it a little punchy.

Sometimes I think it is easier to acquire a beamspring at a decent price than it is to find one of these, I personally consider them unobtanium but then, that's just me and I've not put out a specific ad for them.
Good luck Thomas!

Re: A Few Little Compaq Portable III (?) Keyboard Parts
Unfortunately, I don't reckon many people have a matching set to donate caps to, at least for F&F. But, I think parts for those boards might be more readily available in the wider vintage computing sphere rather than here, surprisingly. A lot of people have portable computers with F&F, it was common...

Admittedly, I would want the stealth in my collection, purely because it IS so gaudy. But, the value added by the rarity of it puts it firmly out of reach for my interests. Good luck with sale!

Are we certain that we should be using "Assemble Bottom side"? The bottom side does not appear to have any of the SMD components and this seems counter to the directions on jlcpcb.

Re: White Alps Question
Pine alps are generally less clunky and more refined feeling. Somewhere along the line, whether it be due to change in slits or other harder to see changes, the later bamboo alps feel less refined than pine ones. The ones in the chicony, assuming they are in good condition, should additionally be po...

Re: [WTB] 3101 Beamspring barrelplate, backplate and PCB
Best chance for PCB would be to have a new one designed or printed. For barrelplate and backplate, would also probably need to get them machined.
Unfortunately getting the parts for the restoration might be difficult.

Re: Easy way of applying RO-59?
I once bag lubed my WANG's bamboo black sliders and housings with a ton of (expired) ro-59. Gave them a few days to dry, and ended up with the smoothest damn linearized alps I've ever had. Will it last? Who knows, I have been using it on and off for the past month or so and it is still super smooth ...
