Re: Questions about keyboard programming.

Each time, you first wait a couple microseconds (why, I'm not sure, but it is recommended for the matrix to "settle"). It's because a microcontroller is scanning a voltage on an LRC circuit . Typical values are about: R = 33 kΩ, C = 5e-12 F, L = 0.5e-3 H You are interested mostly in the times t1=(-...

How about aluminium tape ? https://uk.rs-online.com/web/c/adhesives-sealants-tapes/tapes/aluminium-tapes/ THe surface may be protected with something but you can just rub it off with a scotchbrite I thought about this, but ultimately I feel it will be too fiddly and time consuming - at that point I...

Re: Fixing a Commodore SX-64 keyboard - alternative to "Graphit 33" conductive spray?

Over here at least, every major city has a place that sells and repairs tv remotes, maybe they can help you. If you look for a place like that (or one that repairs TVs for example) you may have it repaired for a few bucks. Rule of thumb: the older the technician is, the better. And, if everything el...

Re: Fixing a Commodore SX-64 keyboard - alternative to "Graphit 33" conductive spray?

Maybe a silver ink conductive pen will work fine. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Conductive-Silver-Ink-Pen-Writer-Circuit-Marker-50-Silver-CSIP-998/222892596383?hash=item33e56f1c9f:g:kJIAAOSwImRYCx2P:rk:1:pf:0 I've heard the same thing about using those conductive silver pens as using a graphite pencill,...

Re: Fixing a Commodore SX-64 keyboard - alternative to "Graphit 33" conductive spray?

If you want, you can use a graphite pencil but make sure it's graphite. You can just rub some on. I have fixed two of these keyboards and I have never had to use anything. Just a good cleaning should fix them. If I recall correctly, I used an eraser to clean the rubber tips. Good luck. Disassemblin...

Fixing a Commodore SX-64 keyboard - alternative to "Graphit 33" conductive spray?

Hey all, I recently acquired a Commodore SX-64 and the keyboard is really hit or miss. Some keys either required hard presses or multiple presses, and others didn't work at all. I followed this tutorial and disassembled it: http://wolfgang-langer.com/commodore-sx64-keyboard-repair/ My keyboard appea...

Yes it should fit - there is at least 33mm north of the inner assembly that is free space. The inside height is 24mm. Would someone mind posting the specs and spec tolerances of the ideal solenoid? Something like 9V (6-12V), 33 ohms (25-35 ohms), throw distance XYZ mm, etc. and I can see what an OE...

I ordered it from Ali. I agree that some first-hand experimentation is probably in order. I don’t mind burning through a solenoid or two. I’d be less enthusiastic about burning through an Xwhatsit board. Confirmed by xwhatsit himself: Those Sparkfun solenoids might not be such a good idea. Unlike t...

My understanding, which is only superficial, is that the unimap "grid" is bigger than the physical keyboard because it's built to support (at least) 2 keyboards with different physical layouts. So each keyboard, either the 4704 or our pingmasters, uses a different subset of the unimap. The important...

AT&T Magnetic separation, clicky, foam and foil

I recently met a man named Aaron who had discovered a cache of terminals from the 1980's. More on that to come. Among them were a few made by the Teletype Corporation subsidiary of AT&T. This terminal used 122 key style keyboard that I had not seen before. At first glance I wasn't expecting anything...

I like RAL-7030 "stone gray" as case color.
Model Fs are so easy to modify and they are built to be highly modular. Just fantastic to breath new life into a 33 year old keyboard that is a joy to use.
