That's true, but the size of the umlauts wouldn't have bothered me, because they are too small on the IBM Model F XT as well. And if IBM does it, it's ok.

Ah ...... no, that's just a very, VERY bold circumflex accent.
What I mean is the umlaut "U", which should be "Ü", but here they printed the lowercase version "ü".

From an era, when rubber-dome keyboard didn't only look like an IBM Model-F XT, but - in some respects - were also build like one. IBM-style thick plastic upper case with lovely "dewdrop" paintjob: bull-1.jpg bull-2.jpg It's even better than the IBM in respect to its screw holes having metal inserts...

Very nice! Concerning the distracting LED: I've simply covered the slits under the left side of the space bar with black tape on all of my Vortex boards. (And on the right side I used clear tape - to prevent any dirt getting into it.)

Just a keyboard.

In my case it was a bad ram module. I had 4 x 4 GB modules and by swaping them and leaving at least one of them out at a time, I found the bad one. Now I have only 12 GB instead of 16, but everything is running stable again.

I would check, if the connector of the xwhatsit is lined up correctly with the pcb. The connector is wider than necessary. So it can be attached too far to the left or right. If this happens it can short two or more contacts, which might have such a strange effect.

I don't think you're a freak and I sympathise with you.
The thing is: I (and maybe a lot of others) am at the moment convinced, that I'm not affected and want it to remain that way. So I don't want to start looking and - on the contrary - would like to forget everything about it.
