Re: Teardown - new Ellipse beamspring switches!

I've been in several hour-long conversations with Jacob during the development of his beamspring switches, I'm fully aware of all the difficulties he encountered, including but not limited to the metal alloys people are referring to (I shortly alluded to this in this Teardown video as well). Natural...

Teardown - new Ellipse beamspring switches!

Today we look at an awesome development; a new beamspring switch heavily inspired by IBM's original design. These come from Joe over at modelfkeyboards.com and are the type that feature in the first round of beamspring keyboards.

New Tai-Hao Cubic Alps-mount keycaps review

Man, this turned out to be WAY more work than I thought it would be xD .
Today we look at one of Tai-Hao's new Alps-mount keycap sets! Choices for Alps keycaps are quite limited, so these new (and expanded) sets are a very interesting new arrival! Hope you enjoy the video!

Re: Wooting 60HE review (Wooting Lekker Hall effect)

Did you have to install a driver? If it provides gamepad emulation out of the box, then they’ve taken the right approach—showing up as multiple USB device endpoints—and it could be more useful than they intended. Cross platform too. But if it’s just done privately in a driver, then not so much. I d...

Re: Wooting 60HE review (Wooting Lekker Hall effect)

Can you use the analog keys to control analog things on the computer, the way a joystick can? I’ve some vague and perhaps faulty memory that this was indeed a thing a few years ago. Never looked into it further though. Yes and no. It has three profile that make the computer think it's actually a ga...

Re: Wooting 60HE review (Wooting Lekker Hall effect)

The actuation meter is pretty nice. You can of course turn it (and the other backlighting) off, I presume? It strikes me as something like a solenoid: best off by default but fun to toggle back on every now and then for shits and giggles. It's just one of the lighting modes, so you can switch it of...

Re: i-Rocks keyboard update video (i-Rocks "v2" Clicky)

The thing I was curious about is, while the keycap mount is MX-compatible, what does the bottom pinout look like? If we can source some of them, can we solder them into an old Northgate or the like? TBH, I'm very fond of the layout on my current build, which makes me less willing to experiment with...

Most keys I know of on one keyboard is the Accom Axial; 189.
Pretty sure it's also a lot bigger.

Biggest and heaviest keyboard I know of is the Berthold mothership keyboard, though. Dwarfs even a battleship.

Re: Thoughts on SMK 2nd gen switches?

Apple never used clicky switches, to my knowledge, so that is very likely tactile. They moved from linear on the early stuff (through to the 1984 Macintosh) to tactile in the mid eighties. Mind, my knowledge on this is highly fallible! I've only had AEKs, M0110, Apple Ergonomic keyboard and a handf...
