Re: DEC Ultrix Keyboard
Key repeat rate should really be handled at the host, not on the keyboard, in my view. There’s nothing more disruptive than random crazy when you’re holding keys. It’s always the unintended triggers that getcha! I’d implement a faster repeat for arrow keys in Karabiner, if I didn’t already use Alt t...

I’m always thinking about making wired boards wireless, thanks to Hasu so revolutionising my HHKBs. I put in so much time on these guys because of how convenient and compelling they are. My Realforce could sorely need some of that love, but the great big beige USB A cable on it (uncoiled and hanging...

That little X button is getting quite the workout again this morning. Our man in Pakistan is on a bender. DT’s resident spammer is busy today. I’ve whacked about 10 posts of theirs. All instant payload: no laying low for later edits this time. They must have lost their ineffective patience.

Definitely counts. Nice find! :D I recently discovered she herself constructed the bizarre language her character speaks in The Fifth Element (what a movie!) before she picks up English from Bruce Willis. Beware USB C. That's why I used weaselly passive voice. (Weasels always need their wiggle room!) Yes, chat and forums are completely different things. Forums have whole threads grouped together for all time, searchable and browsable. Chat prizes the opposite: its ever drifting immediacy. The popular assumption seems to be that there’s a generational divide, however, with younger people preferri...

My own way to handle SHOUT MODE is to put Caps Lock behind a macro: press both Shift keys to press Caps Lock. It’s immediately obvious when you think about it, dead easy to remember, and lets me use that precious key just left of A for something a hell of a lot more useful to me. :D Soarer told me t...

DOESN'T WORK UNLESS TYPED IN UPPERCASE, RIGHT? I would need to write a pretty long essay before I'd use caps lock over just holding down the left shift, but to each their own obviously. Capitalisation is best done with styles in a document like an essay. That way you can change all of them at once, ...

Indeed. I don’t know whether this comes from the NeXT or classic Apple side of the modern Mac’s parentage. If I ever fix up my SE/30, I should plug in two ADB keyboards and find out!
(Yes, my vintage Macintosh collection really is that small. I’m not nearly as into them as I am keyboards.)

Xwhatsit’s docs are all neatly laid out here:

Bear in mind he wrote these years before Ellipse’s remakes / the various Xwhatsit-inspired hardware that’s been made without him. Things may have changed a bit in the many years since.

I...don't think this is a thing. It’s a Mac thing. Windows combines all connected keyboards into a single logical device. The Mac does not. Cool. What architecture is your Mac build of the Pandrew Util? Is it still just Intel? (I checked: it's Intel only.) I tried building an ARM (Apple Silicon) version of the Util myself, but couldn't get it to work. I’m no coder, so the filthy hacking I was doing to clear all the build errors I gettin...
