Re: Vintage Increases Value?
I can't blame them for not knowing better. Unless you are into vintage keyboards and know how to identify switches, they are all about the same. It is also winkeyless so it must be old and old is good right? As for pricing, they see Zenith keyboards selling for around $130 so they price theirs the s...

No, that wouldn't work. The model M flippers does not have carbon in them for the model F capacitive sensors to detect.

Re: Stuff you just bought
So far, it's a pretty nice driver. However the back side (south side) of the spacebar is very high and that's getting a tad painful. It's not like I can go out and just buy another spacebar for this thing, so I'll see if I can adjust my typing to the keyboard. Is flipping the spacebar an option? I ...

The problem with those boards is that you can't desolder the switches - they are literally "glued" in place with whatever that rust-resistant spray they put on the top after the switches were already installed.

There is another one on eBay for $182 BIN. Even that is too expensive.

Re: Switch height DIN standard (maybe) found
Yes, it's true: the Germans killed the beam spring. You're telling me if it wasn't for them I could be typing this on a brandnew and affordable beamspring keyboard? No. You would be typing on an insanely high/thick rubber dome keyboard. You basically get something like this: https://www.ebay.com/it...

Re: Switch height DIN standard (maybe) found
This is covered in "ISO TS 09241-411-2012" and "ISO 09241-400-2007". The standard says "The home row height of the keyboard shall not exceed 35 mm." That fits with the advertisement snippet you included and the measurement I took for my IBM XT. https://imgur.com/a/ysXe5yY It also has a description t...

Re: Great/Interesting Finds
Also does anyone know how to lighten a beamspring spacebar? The 5251 spacebar is twice as heavy as the one on my 3276. The most facile method is to remove the lefthand spring. The key technically does not need this spring to function as intended. A more pleasing and calculated solution would be to ...

Re: Fujitsu Leaf Spring 3rd gen, cleaning
The main difference between the Alps lube conversation and lubing the FLS is that the Alps switches are all discrete. FLS? The slider contacts the spring and that's directly on the PCB. I could see contaminating other leaves being a problem. I don't see this being a problem. The switch plates that ...

Re: Great/Interesting Finds
FLS is overrated as fuck, almost all the boards have awful protocols that and terrible layouts so you have to map the matrix and use QMK, and on top of that the switches aren't even that good and have a weird force curve and weighting. Chyros praised them, hence the stupid prices lmao. I would pick...
