Thanks for doing this fun giveaway! I I'll do my best to stay on par and share as much as I can , as I'm already doing with my Youtube channel. I stumbled over your youtube channel yesterday while browsing through geekhack. Your Dolch project is really impressive, I expected a mediocre mod and saw ...

I dun goofed. I didn't exactly expect a miracle but I certainly didn't expect it to make the switch 1800% worse. Is lube a scam? No you are not lubing the right part. Here is video that I said that I was going to produce a long time ago.... pZMgq_KlDac Great Info!!! I would go with dry lube sincere...

Wet lubing is not always the best thing do. I did not get sactisfactory resuls with Alps switches for example so I switched (!) to dry lube for those. Even on Cherrys , the difference between oil and dry ptfe is not that much, so , lately , I prefer going with dry lube . http://www.wd40specialist.co...

Thanks everyone for the replies! Very helpful and encouraging. I will get an old Model F, and a new one. The original has a weird keyboard layout, but I honestly don't think it'll cause me many problems. I used one like that in the 80s, and I assume that muscle memory will take over after a week. I...

Thanks everyone. Much appreciated. Sounds like Soarer's converter is definitely the way to go. I'll read into mapping the keys. Will this work for Linux systems as well? Is it likely that the foam in the Model F will be decomposing? I don't want to buy one and find that I have no way to keep it run...

Hi, Is there some other way of installing a converter inside the keyboard? Hello, as others noted , the best way to convert a Model F to usb is to use a Soarers converter (God bless this Guy). I did embed a Soarer converter in a couple of model F and remapped most of the keys to gain maximum functi...

Hi! we have the same problem , converting an 8801. If You find anything please post here. I'm afraid a Teensy 2 ++ , TMK and swapping the controller is the way to go... Here is mine https://i.imgur.com/HACVADb.jpg I dropped more pictures in this post https://deskthority.net/workshop-f7/nec-pc-8801-d...

just a quick note. sun light is not a good UV source for our purpose. Buy a good UV lamp, the result is way better than direct sunlight. Hello Matteo, I did try with UV lamps but either my lamps were not strong enought or the process is too slow , I gave up in favor of exposing the glass jar to dir...

Hi Wodan, I suggest You try glass marmalade cans as containers instead of ziplock bags with a 1:5 or 1:4 solution of 30% peroxide : water . In my experience pressure has some influence in the process and marmalade cans are gas tight to some extent so the peroxide solution / caps bath will stay at pr...

Hi, I'm palying with some ALPS clicky white switches from an Acer 6012 keyboard, this one: https://youtu.be/-J10pHNhcoo?t=293 The switches are dusty and almost blocked: I took them all off the pcb and ultrasonic cleaned 3 of them. At the moment the best results I had have been by just lubing the ste...

The PCB is still stuck to the backplate since the two screws holding them together were too rusty to remove. https://i.imgur.com/BhlXI1Kh.jpg Well, to remove the pcb from the backplate You have to slide it on one side to free it from the two retaining bolts... There's a transparent palstic film in ...
