I have the opportunity to get a Model F XT for around 25€. But the guy can't get it to work - controller failure. Is it possible to repair, or swap the thing out for a capsense usb controller?
The springs+flippers alone make it worth it.

Nice. One question/suggestion I have is - if keycaps end up needing another prototype run, and everything else is fine, how do you feel about starting production on the keyboard proper and shipping it independently from keycaps? That would probably make sense only if the delay on keycaps was >1 month.

Yes. It seems the slider material changed between gen1 and gen2 alps switches. New material seems a lot more slippery, at least that's the case with SKCM whites vs SKCM blues.

Well, it's an ANSI non-italic/oblique PBT keycap set, so it's not that surprising.

seebart shared the link to the only working converter for it - https://deskthority.net/workshop-f7/ibm-3278-keyboard-to-ps-2-interface-t15191.html?hilit=converter Other than that, it's an xwhatsit+adapter(strongly recommended)+solenoid driver(optional). orihalcon has all of these. We ought to wikify...

Also I expect to mix the gray and beige paint colors locally to try to get just the right color and then mail the paint to China, as there is not a close enough RAL or Pantone color to match the originals. Shipping will be expensive but I hope to have close to accurate colors. Did you have success ...

People should be taught this in primary school, so that when they see, for instance 2488462655, they have an inkling how far in the future that is.

On the spring front... I've been busy and forgot to post. I've ordered 55g versions as well. Those that previously ordered will get them instead of the 45g versions I currently have unless you PM me otherwise. I'll sit on these 45s for another day/need down the road. I don't like ISO format when dealing with humans because it takes names of months out of the equation. Days and years are numeric, but month names are often tied to folklore and history. In my language, officially you would say "25. lipnja 2017.", where "lipnja" is genitive of "lipa" which means lin...

You can also make an adapter from 240 degree to 180 degree variant. You just need to get the female 240 socket, male 180 socket, and connect them with some wires. You can find the pinouts at http://www.seasip.info/VintagePC/ibm_1390876.html (orientation of both is looking at the female socket from t...
