Re: Will Foam fit in a Packard Bell 5131C?
How in the hell is that not quiet enough for an office? To answer the question, yes. I'm sure you can find something thin enough to make it work. Maybe a thin mousepad? I don't know how much it would dampen the sound though. At least on my 5130's the bulk of the noise is actually from the slider sla...

How were the springs "better?" I highly doubt they've ever been anything but a commodity component sourced from whoever was making that size the cheapest at the time. I just measured the springs on my New Model M, M122, and M2. They're the same thing, at least as far as OD and wire thickness go. Apo...

With that NEWS cluster on the bottom one I'm guessing George was really into Nethack. Love these things. Can't wait to see more. It was more just me having too many extra caps and wanting to make the keyboard look purposeful again. I was originally going for a compass type thing with North South Ea...

Acer’s oooooooooohkay, if you really are recently divorced, now on the hook for alimony kind of broke. It’s the kind of switch that will remind you why you don’t deserve nice things. They're the Model M of Alps. Fite me IRL. When Covid's blown over and I can actually go to Scotland. We'll do it at ...

Topre Realforce or HHKB. I think we'd get along.
Anything real Alps. Acer switches are nice though.
A full-size board with Box Jades. Screw the clients, they can deal with the noise.
Yeah, I'm a broke bastard. Too busy piling money into an impending stock crash to buy keyboards.

Re: Topre to pre-try
Bump, maybe you can try buying one and then making up bullshit reasons to scam the seller into giving you a return? That might work. It might work but then you're a cunt, as is anyone that even suggests doing this. A multi-billion dollar corporation like Amazon doesn't even give a shit but Steve in...

Just buy a Unicomp man. bUt ThE qUaLiTy!!??! I have an IBM M122 and a Unicomp New Model M. I have no idea what people are talking about with the quality. Maybe the Unicomp Classic wasn't as good. The only real difference now is that the Unicomps don't waste money on pointlessly heavy metal panels. ...

Yes, the speculators have found the keebs. Keebs.
KEEEEEEEBS.
Quite annoying, really. I haven't even bothered picking up an Alps board because they're all already well above my budget for a single used smoke-encrusted yellow oldhead. Closest I have is Acer switches. Pity me, forum. PITY ME!

It will sell for no less than $650,000. This number is absolutely based on fact I just made up, so you can't get mad.
Then again it seems a large percentage of people come here just to get mad so whatever.

Re: (Concept) modulable keyfeel optical discrete switch
Pointless waste of electricity. The much better option is to use a ferrofluid-filled tube system like is used in the suspension systems of expensive cars. Sure, it'll cost about $200 per key but at least you won't have to spend that extra $1.85 on electricity per month. It'll only be about $1.75 in ...

You're going to get a lot of cunty replies. Don't take it personally. Most here are a peculiar form of Luddite that hasn't taken a dump since 1993 so they're both irrelevant and full of shit. Where's the rest of the machine? Ugly fonts, stupid layout, slightly dirty, and you can't even hook it up to a Soarer's. Absolute piece of shit and everyone should stop bidding on it and convince the seller to just give it to me so I can properly dispose of it. As a token of generosity I'll even cover shipping. Alright, can't even ...

Make sure you get ones for the correct voltage. Outside of that, most keyboards aren't too picky.
There are always exceptions though and I'm sure you'll get a giant list of them in here soon.

If you want maximum media key possibility something like a Redragon K550 wouldn't be a bad option. Standard media keys, plus 12 programmable macro keys. Unfortunately, it's brown switches and not red. Nothing a soldering iron, patience, and a touch of self-loathing can't fix. If you're wanting red k...
