Re: Help: indetify PS/2 cables

In my experience different ps/2 cables use different colors for the wires Yes, but I put the conector picture with the cable attached to it and the signal name. Connectors (PCB end) are not universal. Each board manufacturer may have the PCB connector pins assigned differently. Or did you mean, tha...

Re: Coming Soon - Through Hole Universal Model F and Beamspring Controller

I guess i should have linked the reddit thread. ginjake mentioned he was using varmillo capacitive switches. If you inspect the pcb you'll see there's no switch diodes anywhere. https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/gv8jkx/electrocapacitive_helix_keyboard/ There's nothing with capac...

Re: Coming Soon - Through Hole Universal Model F and Beamspring Controller

A few answers: -the original xwhatsit DAC is an SMD package and we had to find a cheap through hole component -pro micro uses a different chip than xwhatsit. The pins are different. -when the initial components were drawn up we checked mouser, digikey and Farnell. They had all the components. - rega...

Re: This should've been a happy post (Displaywriter)

Oh this is painful to see. It's so difficult to insulate these bricks from their own weight, especially the way shipping companies handle them. I had a Multistation board that got crunched like this. The PCB should be sturdy since it's flush mounted to the brass plate, but I could see it cracking i...

The relay is truly the cheapest way to get a solenoid to work. These cost 1 or 2 euros and even have a built in solenoid within them. If you need a bit of extra oomph, then a solenoid can be bought off ebay/AliExpress/adafruit for just a few euros. As long as you buy a solenoid that runs off 5V, a r...

What are you talking about? The RALT key (Alt or AltGr) is in the correct position and is of the correct size (1.5u). They had every opportunity to fix the bottom row and managed to fail spectacularly. 5.75u space and 1.25u useless key? Come on now. Just ship a 7u space bar option. What they did: 1...

Yes, and a pcb compatible with the new keycaps. I don't know if it was in your review, or if I saw it elsewhere. I'm interested by the fact that switches are lighter than older model m, and that they are very similar to the old model f, can you confirm it? There’s no PCB in a model M. These use a m...

Just to make sure.. this is the little ring that is around the screw inside the keyboard?

Edit: found some info on this - let me check!
Thats not the only thing to be grounded. The metal back plate - the shiny brass shade - MUST be connected to ground as well.

We bought out first computer for home the same year, being price conscious we bought a rubber dome for how quiet it was (we called them Membrane back then without even knowing what they were) . Despite having a super...
