Re: My Deko Fast Action Keyboard project
Oh very nice! That’s easy enough. All I managed was a quick test of the board using a Soarer’s converter and a Windows laptop. (I still use Elite Keyboards’ Switch Hitter for quick keyboard tests, I never got around to writing something similar for Linux.) I was seeing doubled and missed key strokes...

Re: My Deko Fast Action Keyboard project
Oh neat, thanks for sharing. I've got the 5 pin DIN power supply for mine, I don't think the power hack would do much for me. I'll learn more if and when I have a chance to crack it open.

What was Flecom's mod? It looks like it's pulling power from the auxiliary power input port.

Hello RichardHill, welcome to Deskthority. I'm sorry your first post to the forum had to be under such unfortunate circumstances. aihk, I don't have this keyboard handy at the moment. The more photos you are able to post, and the more description of the behavior you are seeing that you are able to offer, the better I and others will be able to help you.

Re: [WTB] Sun Type 7 - Unix layout
Sun Type 7 is a USB keyboard. It looks a lot like the Sun Type 5. But it's way flimsier and the keys feel way worse.
I'd be after a Sun Type 5 with an aftermarket USB adapter.

I wonder if there is some way we can support his estate by offering to purchase remaining inventory. I don't even know how I would pose such a question in a tasteful way.
I'd run it as a silent auction with proceeds benefitting the family given the opportunity.

Re: PS/2 Keyboard for old PC with high KRO
Northgate Omnikey 101 would fit the bill. NKRO PS2 keyboard. Actual NKRO with diodes. Unsure if they turn up in Poland with any frequency. Cherry G80 from this era usually don't have diodes and aren't NKRO. But with a replacement PCB like the GH80-3000 (if you can find one) it would do the trick. Th...

I'm still in awe at just how pristine and not yellow these boards all are. I've got a good portion of these but they're not nearly as pretty. Well done! If I were you I'd just fabricate a new knob. The flippers and springs would be the same. Unsure about the barrels offhand, I would have to check, as there are both the "buttress" and "pin" types. That being said, I probably have more barrels somewhere, it's the flippers and springs that are tough to find.

Sandblast with walnut shells to get the powder coat off. I don’t think MEK is going to do what you want. Cerakote is thinner and might work for this application. Maybe. Oh, that old chestnut. There seemed to be an interest for a while for drop-in Hall sensor based replacements for Cherry MX boards. windmills.jpg Hall sensors always need a power pin. Maybe you can steal it from LED power. But that's not great. It's good to see new development, but this would require...

And I remember when we thought Ellipse was a madman for selling rare SSKs for $1000. Now we’re selling F107s for ten times what they cost a few years ago and turning to Ellipse for our key caps. Strange times indeed. At this rate, a NIB OG Model M from the 80s will put my kids through college ten ye...
