Re: IBM SSK club!

As far as I know, the system is basically a ruggedized PS/2 crammed into a cabinet on wheels, but that's just my (admittedly poor) deductive reasoning and heresy I've heard online. Thanks for that! I think you are correct that it is essentially a PS/2 class computer. Also I spotted a couple on eBay...

Re: IBM SSK club!

Imagine what I must have felt upon seeing the listing, lol. Ended up paying ~$35 all in for it, with a listed price of $100 for the full system. Would have loved to take the full computer, but there was no realistic way to get it from small town Maine down to me in Pennsylvania. Uggh...I'd probably...

Nice work. Do you have the actual service manual or did you find a copy online? Also you might want to ensure that your machine is not bugged by the KGB. https://qz.com/932448/forget-smart-tvs-in-the-1980s-spies-were-hacking-typewriters/    “When I saw those x-rays, my response was, ‘...

You can also just use random jumper wires or take some wires from an old ethernet cable (preferably solid wire rather than stranded).

I've used 3M 300LSE double-sided clear adhesive tape for installing badges and other types of craft work at home. This tape is commonly used in cellphone repair.

What about boiling + sonic clean + polish + apply wax lubricant? I want to try the hot melt wax that I use for my bicycle chains on a very nasty Northgate Omnikey that I thought was beyond saving without getting replacement switches for the entire board.

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards

JP as a note I install and test each space bar on the keyboards that go out, but sometimes they require adjustment after the keyboards are bounced around in shipping - sometimes they are bounced so much that people have found the space bar separated from its keyboard barrel! I'm actually typing on ...

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards

I just received my new F77 after waiting these past few years and I a bit let down by some rather inconvenient issues on an otherwise quality piece of kit. Right out of the box the spacebar is not operational as it will not release on it's own. It is simply stuck unless I manually pull it up. Seems ...

OH!!! Somehow I missed that. So they either have a second one, buyer didn't pay, or they're trying to get a higher price... any identifying marks to tell if it's the exact same one?
Yes, the scratches on the top left of the case. This isn't uncommon when a buyer doesn't pay.

Yes, it's the same seller. And since the last one sold for $1169, it's not surprising they do this. Such a shame, though. That blue just doesn't do it for me and for that kind of the money the paint either needs to be original/vintage or at least professionally done rather than a cheap rattle can j...

Media blast and have it plated in a desired finish or primer and paint and this would be better than new..
