Trying to finish up an FSSK build and need a couple more parts. Looking for:
1x - Xwhatsit Model F controller
12-15x - Model F Flippers
I am located in the US but these pieces are small so not opposed to reasonable EU shipping.
Thanks all

Yellow Alps 60%
Shortly after I built my Blue Alps 60% I was so happy with it I went in for the second run of Hasu PCBs. That was 4 years ago, and today I finally had that free weekend I was waiting for to build it. Figured since its been a couple years I should probably post some pictures, so here goes: DSC_...

Alps Keycap Surgery
Anyone have any advice/experience in reattaching Alps key stems? Through a series of progressively dumber actions (having one of those days), I managed to detach the stem from my left alt keycap: photo_2019-04-06_18-25-44.jpg I figure superglue has no chance of holding up against an Alps switch, and...

Re: What made laptop manufacturer think it okay to use a chiclet key!
Chiclet keyboards are both cheap and super thin compared to more tactile keyboard assemblies. Seeing as aesthetics, weight, and thickness seem to be what sells notebooks these days, chiclets it is. That said, I may be crucified for this but I have had a 2016 MBP for 3 years and have really come to l...

Re: DSS anyone
I think I can safely say that I am not a fan of SA profile, but I do quite like DSA.
The sculpting + rough matte texture, and only a little bit taller than DSA might be really nice actually. Interested to see what comes of it.

Re: IBM Model F XT restoration (Work in Progress; lots of images)
Holy crap this is quite the project you got. Don't think I have seen a Model F so rusty. I am not sure the going rates of XTs these days but I hope the price you paid reflected the condition. I like the sticker recreation though, one day I want to print a new metallic sticker to replace the one I lo...

Hey Mu, it's good to see you back! I must admit I mostly turned my nose up at the Hasu controller when I saw it being reported at about a day's worth of battery. 2-3 days of regular use on a charge is much closer to the kind of life I would expect out of something like that. And will definitely give...

Sorry if all of this is answered elsewhere (I have not been following much here these days) but do you have any reasonable expectations for battery life say powering a HHKB? I have wanted to make my HHKB BT for a while now but the existing options battery life is kind of pitiful. If battery life wit...

Steam controller is the second most used peripheral for my HTPC so that is kinda what jumped to my mind first, but yeah you're right. I am not sure what kind of touch pad modules are out there that would work in a custom keyboard, but I have a feeling it might be harder/more expensive to implement a...

I always really wanted to make a wireless low profile keyboard using Cherry M84's so this would be a worthy compromise if I ever saw one. One thing I would like to see is a really durable case. If a case made of solid rubber and marshmallow is not possible, something that I can feel free to toss on ...

Just got mine and I agree with the rest, these are some truly impressive Alps. Almost makes me question if ultra sonic restoring my green alps is even worth it when I know that these exist! As for the clones, I only got a few for cuiosities sake and they are not great. They don’t fit into any of my ...

Just throwing this out there: Make sure to inspect your barrel plate for any micro cracks (usually along the middle rows). In my '88 SSK they wound up being bad enough (but hard to see), and got even worse when I started drilling holes that I needed to replace it and start over. You can buy a replac...

Damn this is very cool, Matt3o. From that image the legends look very good. Were you just testing with Skull Squadron or if this works out are you looking at a potential "Skull Squadron Inverse Dyesub Remaster"? Can't wait to see what comes from this. Also just wanted to piggyback on the devastation...

Not to continue bumping but I got really excited with all the activity on this thread, only to be sad once again. I think like wcass said, this project is a lot more than simply cad files and PCB designs. Lizard really brought everything together in a way that is both necessary for a project of this...

Out of curiosity of the people legitimately hoping to purchase a set of these, is the idea to display the board or the caps on a shelf, or will these caps actually see regular use? Putting the hardcore Cherry collectors aside, I just can’t imagine spending $600 on a keyset and subsequently depreciat...

I had the same experience with the AEK2 caps. Nubs on the D and K keys made touch typing quite annoying and confusing, and swapping them around made typing in complex passwords a pain  My solution was to just swap to a new keyset, but I never really considered trying to grind/sand off the nubs....

Ah glad you posted this here! To add to what has already been said, usually the blue cube active converter is the best option. Since this is an AT you will also need a DIN -> PS/2 adapter . You also have the option of making your own adapter (which is probably the best long term solution. Makes chan...

Beautiful work Toby. Out of curiosity, do you happen to have any photos of how you mounted the plate into the case/the empty case? I am assuming they were hand wired, and thus no PCB that needed to be supported with standoffs? I love that you left the wood mostly natural, it has such a nice grain. A...
