Yes! Those things get mangled into bad origami.
Or you think, "I lucked out and just bent the pin. I'll bend it right back"... No, my friend. That pin is getting snapped off like a twig.

Re: Keyboard Photogrammetry
Saw this on twitter the other day and couldn't help but admire the man's skills. (not sure if it's a photogrammetry scan or another method).

Re: Does anyone know what's going on with Matias?
I’m an enigma. Genuine alps feel bindy and stiff to me. Matias reds feel like typing on squishy little pillows. And who doesn’t like the thought of that?!

Re: Does anyone know what's going on with Matias?
That one lasted about 3 years or so but eventually I ended up having to replace virtually all the commonly used quiet-click switches as they started to chatter and fail. I like the feel of Matias switches a lot but many people find that they’re prone to chatter. Probably because the contact plate i...

Re: QMK Powered Equivalent to Soarer’s Converter?
I'm glad you've found a happy workable medium! For anyone wondering how to add a default keyboard to their own QMK Configurator fork, I've found the instructions: https://docs.qmk.fm/#/reference_configurator_support At a glance it looks like something that I would sink a ton of time into and become ...

Re: Restoration blunders
There probably isn't a realistic alternative to spraying. That's kind of the conclusion I arrived at so thank you for affirming it so I don't try anything alternatively unwise. Failing that, if you have an exhaust fan over the stove that gets some portion of the extra spray out. I just got engaged ...

Re: QMK Powered Equivalent to Soarer’s Converter?
I’ve been following your painful journey and so badly want to help :( Here’s another one of my half baked ideas: the configurator itself is open source. Can you run it locally? and does anyone have an idea how easy hard it is to add a new keyboard? Like, would it be feasible to simply add that IBMPC...

Re: Alps switch pusher
It could very well just be me doing me things, but I've rarely been able to separate a PCB and mounting plate even after all the switches are desoldered. I use the method of pliers, with jaws wrapped in electrical tape, put the jaws over the entire switch, rock the switch back and forth a few times...

Re: Stuff you just bought
Video looks great 👍 How’s the keyboard? The case is tank-thick and I love how the whole thing looks. It's in super clean condition but the switches bind a tad if hit off center. The keys bottom out somewhat shallow and abruptly but the sound they make is on the pleasant and thocky. I haven't been a...

Re: Stuff you just bought
I have an Insta360 One R action camera which takes really great video, but has a minimum focus distance of about 3 feet. I saw a DIY tip online about attaching some inexpensive 49mm macro lens filters which allow you to take close up shots. They don't thread onto the lens, but you can attach them wi...

OK take what I say with a grain of salt, because I haven't tried it myself and I'm just jamming puzzle pieces together in my head... Re: QMK Powered Equivalent to Soarer’s Converter?
I know you’re looking for a QMK solution but when you said you prefer its configurator to TMK unimap are you talking about editing the raw keymap file or using Hasu’s web editor. I might be pointing out the obvious but TMK has a pretty capable web editor that I think might serve your needs. http://w...

Re: Restoration blunders
With the best of intentions I once tried repainting a Zenith Z-150 plate using latex paint applied with a foam brush. I did use metal paint primer, but the paint job was bumpy and also peeled a bit if inserting/removing switches. I did not use a spray paint because I live in the city and don’t reall...

Friends, romans, countrymen, the time has come to sell some of my keyboards. I find all the effort you put into such a futile endeavor addressing just a fringe audience simply amazing. The short and simple answer is along the lines of what Mu said. I hope some day these models serve a purpose to others, but don't really have any specific ideas of what that might be. I would...
