Cool, hope the NerD happens. I really could use another 60 PCB. Bit curious about the final colour as well, even though it will be hidden in the end.

Membrane refers to the sensing mechanism. Topre keyboards aren't membrane keyboards, but rather use a capacitive sensing PCB. Membranes are the foil sheets you find in most cheap boards or Model Ms, which have problems separating keystrokes and mostly (always?) only offer 2KRO. /edit Oh and Leopold ...

My first mech was the Filco Majestouch-2 with MX-Browns. Kind of a safe bet back then. I was already used to fullsize and the Browns seemed reasonably quiet and nice. I don't know if that's what truly got me into the hobby... I would credit the PokerX with that. I had never before seen a usable keyb...

GMK/Uniqey for their dedication to high quality cases and caps in a ready package.

If I'm nominating an Artisan, am I the maker? A singular cap? You seriously misunderstood something. The maker is whoever designed/produced it. And the only new keycaps on the market worth a damn are GMK. Thanks mike for the the great nomination In that spirit I would nominate GMK Originative WoB, ...

I'd be careful with heavy switches. My 45g stock HHKB is the heaviest Topre I own actually. The silenced one with stock sliders is a bit lighter, as are the variable weighted keys on my RF.

But I tend to go for light switches in general, I cannot use MX Black for a long time.

Well, they seem to be a bit cheaper and got the APC gimmick to choose from switch activation points further up or further down the keystroke.

Design wise I lean more on the classic side myself.

One of the issues with TMK on the NerD60 2.10 is resetting the board without ISP or having a magic key combination in firmware. Given the current fuse settings efuse=0xC3 the HWBE bit is already enabled. So shorting the HWB and GND pins directly at the chip during reset does the trick and the board ...

Wodan has done a comparison in the same case, silent MX vs qmx clip MX. Should be somewhere. I figured these wouldn't work with 2x3x4 LEDs earlier - well , turns out they're an exact fit. Again, just PCB mount, but this time tactile MX in the form of Ergo Clears. You know the setup by now: SEVJYmt5j...

Cherry MX blues have a nub on the base on the slider that reduces key travel even more when used with silencing clips. Don't they feel weird? And do they work properly? Quick look at the plate mount QMX Clip

I have one of GMKs new plate-mount silencing clips on hand as well as the ZealPC ones. So I decided do do a short comparison. Just from picking them up for the first time you will notice that the dampening inlay on the QMX top is much softer. Also they decided to cut the corners a little to make it ...

Only Gateron, or anything with a transparent shell? I noticed that the switches with clear tops are much harder to get apart as the plastic is that much stiffer. It's my first real case mount custom, so I have to believe in the hype surrounding brass plates.
The sound is pleasant and it doesn't seem to have a harsh bottom out. I can't judge how much of that is down to the construction and would be equally great using alu or sts plates.
