Yeas, as in the title. I cannot activate my iPhone 6 and was thinking of different solutions. Jailbreaking is one of them. Any ideas? Anyone knowledgeable?

Only on iOS 9.0.2 or lower. Take it to apple i am sure they will be more than willing to help you.........right ? :P Chances are they will tell you to fuck off and buy a new one but you never know, its worth a try.

Not much else you can do i am afraid :(

If you're on a good ios versoin there are tons of guides. IPSW.me has a list of all the currently jailbreakable versions. If not, you're fucked. Apple does not allow you to downgrade to a version they are not currently digitally signing.

I bought my iphone 6s launch week on ios 9.0.2. Have never updated and have been untethered jailbroken since 2015 :D

Is it not just much simpler to buy a phone from a company that does not screw you , then you dont have to miss out on new features and security and have full use of the phone that is your property ?

I mean i 100% agree that any phone should be locked down by default for the normies, but you should have the ability to unlock it yourself with a simple process, i would even support having to get a key from the manufacturer to do it so its not easy to bypass.

We are talking about companies that don't even hide they don't want you to be able to repair your device. We are crazy allowing this kind of corporate bullshit.

You have any clue about why you can't activate it?

Following things didn't work.

- Hard reset
- Update and recovery via iTunes
- AirDrop activation with other phone
- Connecting via WiFi
- Sim Cards checked ( Simple Mobile, At&t)
- Bitchslap with a hand

Phone is unlocked and iCloud account deleted from what I know. FindMyPhone disabled too. No focken clue, mate

You could check if the IMEI is being read with iTunes or in the phone screen when you are presented the first step after a fresh restart (little "i" at the bottom)

OK so there is no service on the device at all, is your sim card working ? Do you have another phone to test it in ?

Sometimes a sim can work in an older phone but not in a new phone or can partly work. Not sure how it is in consumer space but when i used to services phones for a large company we could just call up and get the account moved over to a fresh sim that we had a stock of on site. Now thats not possible for you but you could call your provider and ask for a new one. I have seen this fix no service issue. Sim cards can just die after a month or they can last 10 years... its just how it goes.

The phone looks like its working but you could also try a flash in DFU mode https://www.theiphonewiki.com/wiki/DFU_Mode It could be the baseband needs updating!

EDIT , just noticed that its an exclamation mark not a no signal mark , it could be that its not detecting the sim or that could be part of the newer UI i have not serviced iPhones since about iOS7

If you press the info icon on the Hello screen (lower right corner) — does it show IMEI?

If it doesn’t, then the cellular modem is borked and the phone needs repair. Jailbreaking it won’t help.

So I went to Apple and they said it's a mainboard problem. Top left corner exclamation mark indicates problem with a modem

I'm gonna go ahead and try repairing it. Two options here: replacing modem chip or entire logic board. What would you advise?

It's a matter of practice and practicality. Maybe you can even reball the modem and it works.

A real reballing needs profesional hardware but a non-professional approach can be made with hot air and flux and even with an oven If you are really in despair.

Where I'm located ther is no single place where you can do an actual reballing but I knows that in the first world there are lots of little repair shops that are able to do it. Lately repair services (specially in the cellular phones and laptop/desktoc computers) is the worst chaos posible. Full of people that are not professional and very bad practices. Hackspaces are a good place to look for equipment/help take a look if you have any near yor location.

Now update - I bought another motherboard for it and it works, but it's iCloud locked hah. Have you guys ever tried removing iCloud?

Removing iCloud lock is nigh impossible in recent iOS versions. Unless you find the original owner of the stolen phone to which this motherboard belongs and they unlock it for you.

If you bought the motherboard on eBay, you should consider opening a case against the seller.
