1. Government? Isn't USPS a private company?
2. Government can be quite effective - see NSA.
3. I'm glad health care is a public concern in Germany. You don't have to die just because you're poor.
4. I understand your anger and frustration

Indeed, despite what the American media tells you over there, we're all quite happy with public health care in Europe. We'd have to be nuts to want to destroy what we've made.

I'm a socialist and I can actually agree that the US government has no business running anything.

Of course, my solution isn't privatizing healthcare. My solution is replacing the US government, or better yet dissolving the US into its component states.

And, the USPS is a government agency, but is financially independent. Unfortunately, Congress can fuck with it, and when Congress is on a "government bad, private good!" agenda, it can require the USPS to strangle itself.

I'm not a socialist, but I quite agree with that.

(Well, apart from the dissolving states part. Won't someone please think about Austin, that liberal citadel buried inside of Texas! The United States, singular, is a fine place. Its government is hideously corrupt. But they are not one and the same.)

Godwin's Second Law: with the increasing length of every political flamewar on the internet, the chance that Godwin's First Law will be cited approaches 1.0
