In any case, the argument is moot. This is a free speech forum where the posters own their own posts. Deskthority doesn't own their posts. Some posters prefer to post a sale, and once it is completed, edit out the topic subject, and or price. Whatever, they own their own posts, despite the protests of others. Other people don't and want their posts to live on as a price reference. Good, it's their posts. But yet others want to define what either of the previous two can or cannot do with their posts. Here I disagree. This is the Internet and this is an open forum where people own their own posts. Live with it. It's their choice to decide if they want the info to live on or not. If you don't agree with this because you'd like to see the marketplace limited, please consider this: How would you like this alternative, with me, as the current chairman, or matt3o, as the current club master, own what you write?

No, I simply meant her "normal" price for these, even that is fair by todays prices.

The argument is valid although I dont agree 100%. The opposite approach of making this a closed "secret" forum is impractical and way too late now. Besides if DT were limited like that many many users like chip chop myself and many others might never have found DT in the first place! "Invite-only" online communities like that are lame and die off eventually or wither in their own HD-cache which very quickly becomes a load of old useless data. Of course the way DT is running now its somewhat of a flame-haven for every- and anyone who stops by and bothers to register. We have these shit-flame-threads where nobody can be somebody. I think "owning" content is the wrong idea, all content would have to be "filtered" via moderation which is a serious workload, I never understood how Muirium managed all that.

On topic: I have been a fierce defender of blocking non-DT members from seeing the "Great/Interesting finds" thread for different reasons.
On the other hand, I see no reason to hide information about past prices.

Hi, I'm new to DT and the main reason in my decision to become a club member is all the information DT offers.
Not everyone searches google before selling stuff, get real, 80% of ppl on this planet are ignorant to most subjects as they are to keyboard types; You can still get great finds for cheap prices it's just not for every purchase anymore.

I think keyboard information (including prices) like all other information should be free and visible to all.
If you want to give something back to the members supporting this community post great finds in the members area. Other than this information should not be hidden.

I like ranting about people joining DT just in order to immediately sell their stuff,
so I think I should also praise anyone whose first post is a thematic contribution posted more than 3 months after joining DT and becoming a (paying!) DT club member.
