Yeah.

Well, I currently have only ErgoDox, TypeMatrix 2030 and CM Storm QFR (modded) in my "daily rotation". I sometimes play with the HHKB Lite2 these days. Noppoo Choc Mini and that 120key Access-IS have been dropped from the "active inventory" recently. Then I have several dozens of mostly OEM keyboards. Some are a bit uncommon brands (Leanord, Robotron, Tesla), some have somewhat uncommon switches (Acer, miniature Mitsumi, Oki Gourd Spring), some are completely obscure (a certain Cherry G80), some are ordinary but nice (AEKII, Dell/SGI Alps Bigfoot, IBM Model M, MS Natural, Unicomp EnduraPro).

Which one is it?

I'm the only one in the category 1, so far.
One custom built keyboard. I keep one best keyboard for use. That is the custom one.
And I keep 2 stock keyboards as backups, one USB (Kinesis Advantage) and one PS/2 (some cheap rubber dome). I can get rid of the rubber dome one. A need for PS/2 keyboard is very rare now.

Too many, but that's mainly my laziness to get packing material to sell stuff off.

Current inventory off the top of my head:
nealry 30 XT keyboards (83-key F)
8 or so 122 F\Ms
8 or so regular Model Ms
Rosewill RK9000RE w/50A O-rings and a black petal
Topre Type Heaven 104
AEK with something
AEK II with Cream Damped Alps
Focus FK9000 with white alps
2 o 3 random boards with white alps
AT101W with black alps
Olympia Carrera typewriter with linear marquardt
Royal Alpha 2001 or something like that with Cherry M7s
Dolch PAC-486 w/keyboard that has MX Blues
Wyse PCE with MX Blacks
Wyse 85 with MX Blacks
Wyse ASCII with MX Blacks
Desko with MX Blacks
more that I can't remember...

I have too much shit.

Technically, I own many keyboards, but I consider only few of them usable and enjoyable:

- Dell AT101W with Alps PBT dye-subbed caps (which is my daily driver);
- Wyse terminal keyboard (vintage Cherry MX Black and double-shot caps; those yellow arrows... yum!), currently waiting for my Teensy 2.0 to arrive;
- BTC 5339R-O, which I modded from linear to tactile by replacing its springs with buckling rubber sleeves from an old keyboard with Mitsumi hybrid switches;
- IBM KB-6323, which is a predecessor to KB-8923. I like IBM rubber domes, they are very solid and almost completely silent. I own 2 of those keyboards and use one of them at the office.

It's not much, but I'm just getting started!

Lol, I really underestimated how many keyboards people owned here.

I am sitting at 5 so I thought 10 would be the upper end.

The good news is that I need to buy another 5 or so more keyboards to reach a suitable collector status.

31 Topre (30 if you exclude numpad)
16 Other but that list is a bit out of date. I think I have probably close to 25 'other' boards

Bloody hell, I didn't even know that page exist, let alone all those Topre boards!

Could you do some typing videos at some point?

See, there's always someone ahead of you.

The µTRON is the star of 002's collection, a split ergo with symmetric stagger *and* Topre! The thoughtful buggers even put my name on it! But I checked the price on Japanese Amazon when I was importing my HHKB.

I voted zero :D I only have a Model M which I use as my daily driver. It is not a collectible, modded or whatever.

There's some rubber dome lying in a cupboard in case I need to test something. Only time can tell if hanging around here will change my habits ;)

I have always liked the µTRON myself, as I like the idea of ergonomic keyboards, but never found one that has been compelling enough to use day to day (or often to put down a large pile of cash to try).
If I ever get enough money and courage to do a trip across Japan, that will be something I will endevour to buy when I am over there ;)

The poll says "How many special keyboards (custom made, modified or collectible) do you own?" so I guess so. I think you might win though, matt3o :mrgreen:

Actually, that raises an interesting question: do you keep all of your previous nice customs (steely, brownfox v0.1, bianca, etc) or use them for parts for newer projects?

oh right, didn't notice that the poll has a different name from the thread.

depends. many are scavenged (especially the controller). Few are sold. Others are gifted. I should probably have a dozen custom keyboards laying around. Mostly without keycaps. A couple with some kind of errors in the firmware or the matrix. There must be my very first custom somewhere, it is 100% clear acrylic. I haven't posted pictures of that I believe

I abused the Wiki to put my collection on my User page. Some with images.

I did upload the images for posting in Wiki articles first - some have been removed from articles by other people who thought their photos looked better. :P

This thread makes me feel like I don't have a problem at all. Thank you very much :)

Nothing special here:
2x IBM Model M
1x Realforce 88UB (45g)
1x Filco MJ2 with MX reds

That's about the right balance. But you need some Model F to be taken seriously here. Or something vintage with sphericals.

Get cracking.
