The shocker: he carted almost all of them over in one single haul! Truck and trailer.
It doesn't have to be like that. Here's the mainstay of my own much more focussed collection:

I hear you on that! I don't play nearly as much as I'd like to anymore now that I have a baby around. It's not as easy to fire up my half stack like I used to! Hahazslane wrote: ↑That's how I used to feel about electric guitars. Now I just want to sell most of them off...

That's not a beamspring, but it looks like one you're right.

As far as we know it was made by Micro Switch in Freeport Illinois for IBM.

Hi - that was my garage in the photo earlier. It no longer looks this way, I assure you.
I'm fortunate to be near a contact who in turn has enough contacts with recyclers, etc. that many interesting things come my way. I've sold a fair number of these boards to community members.
My long term goal is to get everything working with USB, and to have a collection of well maintained, restored boards. That goal is a long way away.
I find this to be a fulfilling hobby. I hope you do too. Welcome!

I definitely get fulfilment out of this hobby! I've become addicted to them over the past few months. My grandma had an old Apple Standard when I was growing up so I'm really excited for my Alps board to come in the mail!
I've always loved the sound of older boards, but I had no idea how many different types of switches there were until I started researching for my first board. Definitely a hobby with tons of possibilities for customization and collecting!
