I was just moaning at the lack of a view through the glass window. Expected precioussssssness aplenty to be on show!

Yeah, it's a shame the cabinet is too slim to really display most of my boards. Then again, I'd have no one to display them to. I don't get visitors that often

I have about 200 boards now, and if I tried to do the glass display case thing the cost and space requirements would just be prohibitive. I mostly do the postal box thing, stacked vertically along a wall in the spare bedroom.

Vintage Boards in/on a vintage cabinet 8-)

And I'm using cardboard boxes just like most people here. Padded them with foam on the inside or packed the boards in bubblewrap-bags. On my most precious ones, I did both.

That cabinet is quite a looker 8-)

Yeah, I absolutely love it. It's an eBay-Kleinanzeigen find (basically Germany's craigslist) and I think it's my single most favourite furniture piece I own

Originally it was an old drying cabinet for photo-labs. Self-regulating via the big ol' thermometer at the front panel. Quite the interesting circuit. Manufactured and probably also solely used in the GDR. The switch used to turn on the internal heating element and a ventilator in the bottom compartment. I disconnected the latter one but still gave it a facelift. The metal grid shelves were quite beat up too, so I painted them with red rust-stop paint and finally replaced the heating element with a light source. The left of the two glow lamps on the front panel signalizes whether or not the thing is connected to power and the right one gives the status of the light (former "Heizung" :) ). Thinking about adding some LED strips to the insides of the doorframe for some additional lighting.

Uline 23 X 13 X 2 1/2" literature mailers (part no. S-3189) work great for storing battleships, and 19 1/8 X 9 1/8 X 2 3/16" keyboard boxes (S-6496) work for smaller keyboards. IBM M13 fits inside the latter... barely. Removable multipurpose labels from OfficeDepot work well for keeping track of what's where.

Does anyone use any kind of plastic sleeves for storing the keyboard cables? I see polypropylene and polyethylene sleeve rolls like this online, I guess they can be cut to size to prevent cables from damaging the keyboards, does anyone know which material is more appropriate?

I concur and I concur. Neat little invention that solves a big problem.

I need to add that you need to put some foam on the supports to avoid unwanted scratches.

Having just moved into my new gaff but not quite being unpacked yet, they're split between two shelves. Bottom shelf, staying, top shelf, going. There is a yet unpacked box full of garbage that will probably stay unpacked for months. Then I usually have two per desk; whatever I fancy for work that week, two "leisure"(?) boards, and then the Apex Pro remains hooked up to my gaming system. Not a perfect system, but it works for now.

I'm still keeping one eye out for XT boards to fill the going shelf, once the current residence are gone. I may need another HHKB too...

I keep mine is just some flimsy-ish cardboard boxes. I want a better way to store them at some point, but my meager collection fits well enough as is

Grats on move. Decor make statement, not say what is but like it. ;)

Me use these for under-bed / overspill / non-Kishsaver storage:

Workmanly yet not too shabby with lid. Keep dust out along with prying fingers.

“You think you Kishsaver? Into box you go, cheeky boy. Me keep eye on you! (Me not keep eye on you, me only have eyes—and hands!—for Kishsaver.) Did me say quiet part loud again?”

I did once have enough boards to warrant overspill storage - no longer! Though, now I have more space, it could be filled with keyboards

Ali Express if memory serves. I think I just trawled through the 60 % dust covers.
