Cherry MX prisms

Cherry showed me a photo of what the prisms look like in MX switches made up to 2007. Basically, up to this point, instead of the multi-angular shape used in older switches, you had a largely circular cross section. After this point, you have the more recognisable shape:

So, does this fit?
  • [wiki]Cherry KXN3-8451[/wiki] ca. 1984: uses cylindrical prism as expected
  • My Cherry MX Blue switch from the Keyboard Company, bought in 2013: uses cylindrical prism — Keyboardco affirm that they could have been older stock
  • My [wiki]Cherry MX Dark Blue[/wiki] switches from an unknown source: cylindrical prisms
  • [wiki]Artistotle Yellow[/wiki], from a 1992 Chicony KB-5191 — new prisms … uh oh …
So either Cherry are wrong, or those Aristotle Yellow switches are not as old as they appear to be.

My other Cherry switches seem to have newer prisms, including the black MX-M8 Adapter switches that I figured would be much older.

Does anyone have any additional evidence to affirm/deny this claim?
