Cherry Mechanical Keyboard Switch Guide!

Cherry MX switches are the most common kind of mechanical keyboard switch. They are named using different colors. They are categorized in three main categories, Linear Non-Clicky, generally preferred for gaming, Tactile Clicky, generally preferred for typing, and Tactile Non-Clicky, a happy medium, popular with many.

Properties of mechanical keyboard switches
Tactile Vs Linear - A tactile switch will provide a small bump as the key switch actuates. This bump is helpful for knowing when the key has registered a keystroke, but not everyone likes this. A linear switch will feel the same regardless of how far the key is depressed. It will not provide a tactile bump as the key actuates.kitchen supply store

Clicky Vs Non-Clicky - The click is the noise that is made by the switch as it actuates. This is not to be confused with the clack of the switch, which is made by the keys hitting the base of the keyboard. All switches will have a clack, however the noise can be reduced using dampeners.

Actuation Force - This is the force required to press down the key. Some switches keep actuation force constant as it is depressed, others get stronger as the key is depressed.

Spambots are getting smarter: mining the forum for content and posting a snippet from another board where the same keywords are common.

Nice catch. Why is it that bots seem to be more common on deskthority, but yet I don't really seem to encounter them on keebtalk or r/mk as much? It seems pretty weird.

Because we are running outdated forum software:

Updating it is an enormous challenge. Matteo only barely survived the last overhaul!

(Any discussion of the topic should go on that thread. Not this one, chosen randomly by a spammer.)
