Hi

Managed to save yet another old board from recycling center. This time it was Zenith Z-150 with Green Alps.

Anyone have any idea about USB converter possibilities?
Hope it is not too difficult so I could actually use it.

Nice find! Hasu converter should work: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=103648.0

Yeah, you need Hasu's converter with the pullup resistors. Congrats! That board is still one of my favourite and it's always interesting to see other layouts.

Do I need a Hasu converter for my Leading Edge DC-2014? Haven't been able to get it working with any of my regular converters :/

Don't know about that board personally, but it's listed in the supported boards on his geekhack post, so I highly recommend trying it out. I remember Hasu mentioning somewhere that for example Soarer's converter uses more like a workaround solution for XT boards in general. Since I got myself one of Hasu's, I am only using that one for my XT boards.

Sweet. Thanks for the tip. Yeah, I was surprised when none of my Soarer's worked.

I actually just got an XT Z-150 myself and made a converter for it for my first time like two weeks ago. Here is what I did. Hope this helps!

What I did was purchase a Teensy 2.0 and some female MIDI din sockets, then I flashed the teensy with this hex file here: viewtopic.php?p=355792#p355792
You could also use Hasu's firmware.

After that I soldered the leads on the back of one of the 5-pin din sockets I purchased to the respective holes on the teensy, the reason this won't work with one of Orihalcon's converters is because it needs to have the reset pin wired in.

Here is a diagram from the male end of the XT connector, on the top of the pins is the XT pinout and on the bottom is the corresponding teensy connectors. Also make sure to put a pull-up resistor between clock and 5v and another between data and 5v, as is shown here in purple.
