Hey guys new here thought i would show you guys my 1993 3278 Style soarers converted IBM Model M. I was born in the early 2000s so i have never been able to experience the model m in its hay day. But this is by far one of the best keyboards i have ever owned i also own a unicomp PC122. Currently 27 years old at the time of this post and looks brand new{Got it off of drake9800 which cleaned it}. I hope to keep using it for the rest of my life as my main keyboard. Hopefully parts will still be around in 20 years if i have to fix it again lol.

  • In a few years the current Model M hype will be over, and
  • of course you’ll have to fix yours again, but
  • as it was a mass product there will be parts available "for the rest of [your] life", which
  • I wish you will be more than 20 years  .

M is at the bottom of list as far keyboards to worry about not being able to find parts for.

Unless you're looking for an M122 top case, haha! But you are right.

Um. I do. Is there something special about those? Am I missing out on something?

I've been looking for a top cover for over a year, without luck. Might just be me though, haha

Unicomp sells 122 cases for $20 or something. They don't have IBM badges though.

You can still get a complete 1st gen M122 keyboard at a reasonable price used.. Which means used parted out pieces should be affordable. Those boards haven't sky rocketed yet like the similarly big sized F version did. Or like Rayndalf said if you need the smaller late model 122 top case, try unicomp.

Me in 2070 when keyboards are obsolete and still using a 77 year old keyboard Lol.

The square badge/round top M122 cases are needed for the barrel and backing plates that went with them. The later, square top/oval emblem cases won't fit.
