This is an interest check/group buy post for the case I am making for the IBM "F54" keyboard (from IBM Electronic Typewriter Model 65/85/95).

Here are some photos of the first prototype:

gasket mount 😩 (the rubber bits not included, I am assuming you still have them from the original assembly)

Case will be made of nylon.
Finish will be gray textured paint, inspired by the IBM "industrial" keyboards.

Kit would include:
  • case (painted top & unpainted bottom, screws)
  • feet (outer foot, inner foot tube, spring)
  • adhesive rubber feet
  • solenoid with adjustable throw

Regarding conversion, the universal xwhatsit works with a jumper and and a bit of firmware configuration; I probably won't design a custom one for this but I will have some available for those who need.

Price TBD; between $100 and $200

Please fill out this interest check if you are interested

Sadly, Ellipse is only open to Open-source case design contributions. His business ventures clearly don't earn him enough money to commission a simple case design from somebody experienced; likely due to his dedication to providing unparalleled manufacturing quality and consistency in his products. /s

Nah, I think he is just a bit of a leech. Not paying your designers is shitty.

That is cool! I would think that a nylon case would be a very good idea.
The back is butt-ugly but that doesn't matter.
But the F AT is where it would really be worthwhile.

I just assumed the case materials were just cheap for testing and final would look more like an actual IBM case

I would be interested in something like this, but can't fill out the form because it seems to require a google account. I've never had that problem when filling out ICs.
