I'm an big time PC poweruser, HTPC & gaming enthusiast. For years I've been trying to find how to switch from a desk, chair, and 24" monitor to my couch and TV without any compromise in my typing speed and comfort and mouse.

I've tried all sorts of wireless keyboard/mouse combos. Most of their mouses would flip out on me or just not precise and the keyboard keys would bottom out on cheap rubber.

I had my hopes up for the Phantom-Lapboard-Wireless-Keyboard; but then quickly realized I couldnt type sideways for more than 5 seconds. :)

So, I started looking into a way to convert my Leopold tenkeyless keyboard into wireless. The method below was definitely a step in the right direction, by using the right kind of keyboard. But, I just can't trust that the keyboard will feel or sound the same once I replace the original matrix with a home-made one.

I took a big risk by tracking down and buying a product that had horrible reviews, wasn't even sold or manufactured anymore....

and coupled it with the below battery pack.

Unbelievable, it actually worked perfectly!! No lag at all; even when typing as fast as I can. I tried looking for other USB wireless kits like this, but they either didnt support Win764 bit or they were a bit too big. Hard to believe that product was one of a kind!

So, I took it further and bought a lapdesk

A logitech M570 and some velcro.

Whala...

No compromise HTPC/Gaming/PC computing right from the couch to a 55" TV! I can literally pick it up from the handle and carry it around without worrying about parts coming off. There's a small pouch where I keep the wireless transmitter and battery pack. I can swap the battery pack in less than 10 seconds with my standby battery pack... uses 2 AA lithium ion batteries. Im so glad I finally found all the missing pieces to my puzzle.
