Having found out that the 62g is actually the bottoming out force. What is the force at actuation?

If someone sends me one I can check it with my force gauge. I don't think using a stack of coins is useful for measuring the actuation point.

I have 120 coming. I think it will leave me with a couple spare. I will send you one if I do.

Coolio - I assume I put it in a cherry switch of sorts?

Yeah, I'm using it with vintage black switches. I'm kind of thinking of using red, black and 62g and making variable force.

It should be identical or close to the regular blue springs. The only difference is the slight difference at the bottom, but I doubt anyone would notice it.

Yo ripster, probably because one can't get the springs alone otherwise, and there are more options to choose(52g, 55g, 62g, 65g etc).
Also it is a lot cheaper to make them in bulk rather than harvesting it from Cherry switches.

FYI the 55g springs are noticeably lighter than the springs in the blue switches.

Btw the 62cN springs are the most popular springs for making the ergo clear switches right in Korea, as those are a tad heavier at the bottom to reduce the sticking. I can't see any other reasons to use those 62g springs with other cherry switches.

Thanks for that hint Rigs, I need to try this now...I have 87 springs thanks to sixty but havent tried them for ergo clears yet.

Do you have the 62g springs at hand? Let me know how it goes.

Yes, Ive got them here, but I am still undecided which board to put them on...my 5000 or my phantom. I got my PCB and plate from 7bit today.

I would never modify a vintage mx 5000, but that's not my call.

Or...
1) measure the spring length (probably about 14mm).
2) measure the 'fully compressed' length inside a cherry switch (I made it roughly 6mm).
3) scale to the activation which is 2mm above the bottom...

so, roughly... 62 / (14 - 6) * (14 - 8) = 46.5

:D
