Ametek Traxsys TrackBall 50mm: opinion?

The ps/2 version of the Ametek Traxsys TrackBall looks like this one, which is USB. The page says other protocols are available since it's defined "50mm industrial device".
A durable and proven design for general industrial and defence applications that require reliable and cost-effective performance.

Features:
  • PS2 or USB output - other protocols available
  • Sealed (IP65) or Unsealed (IP44) Versions
  • Choice of ball colour
  • Latching drag switch
It measures around 8" long by 5" wide and weighs about 1lb, 5oz, I don't care about the design (which is a bit the 80s), but I seriously wonder how good/bad it is as a daily pointing device.

Bought one. I am testing it.
It's really big, and well-made.
